Okay, um....the centerpiece did NOT work quite like how I had expected it to.
Here was my inspiration pic for those that did not see it....except I wanted to use a square vase and white or red carnations instead of roses.
I was worried about glue-sticking candy canes to my vase so, on a suggestion of another Nestie, I set out to rubberband them to the vase. Yeah, that was not working. The candy kept slipping off the vase when I lifted it up and I wanted it to be movable I guess. I tried with the plastic on the candy and off as well, same result. I didn't want to resort to gluing them so I ended up just putting them in the vase itself, in thier plastic, and popped the flowers in with them. It came out pretty cute I think! Sort of evokes a country christmas look! So here's my end product......
It was fun, quick, and pretty cheap ($3 for candy canes, already had the vase, and $8 for the mums)
Re: Update on candy cane project!!!!
Oh, I hope you see this!! It totally was a great idea!! Thank you
I didn't anticipate not being able to double band the canes to the vase, though. It was too loose with only one banding and certainly not able to go a second time around
I think I'm still interested in making another one and have it look very close to the inspiration pic. But I'm going to go to the Dollar store and try to find a cheapo ugly vase so that glueing the candy to it won't bother me this time
