Photo Xmas Card Etiquette Q

I bought photocards for the first time, and didn't spring for the high quality paper from snapfish. Now I have them and I just don't know what to do about writing a personal message. What do you guys do?

Just put the photocard in the envelope and be done with it? Write something with sharpie on the back? Or write one of those long letters on the computer that you print and send to everybody (which I am not going to do.).

I'm also annoyed because the stupid envelopes they came with say snapfish on them!

Re: Photo Xmas Card Etiquette Q

  • I say do whatever you feel like.  I have gotten a few that are just the card, no personal message.
  • aw crap.  I just ordered from snapfish.  The envelopes have snapfish on them??  lame.

I was thinking of writing a note on the back somehow.  I didn't spring for the high quality paper either.

  • For most people I just stick the card in the envelope and send it.  For people that are closest, like parents, grandparents...I get a regular card that I can write a personal message in and send that separately.  IMO, people never look at the back of photocards so writing something there would probably be pointless.

  • For the ones you want to write a letter to, you can mount the photo on a postcard backing and send the card as a postcard instead of in an envelope.

  • hmm, yes the postcard could be cute.

The envelopes just say snapfish by hp (with their symbol and website...) on the back at the bottom... still it looks tacky.

  • Do what you want and what you have time for! I just sent the photo cards this year, no message, nothing. I didn't have time. In the past I've done the letter and also just writtenon the cards.
  • This year I'm going with just popping the card in the envelope. Though there are some I will include a note for. For those I just printed a cute boarder in thirds on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. So I can tear each sheet in thirds and have a cute little note I can add to the envelope. Does that make sense? I'm trying to rush my post because I expect the babies to be waking up any minute now.

  • I don;t think there is a right or wrong with this one.  I just put the card in the envelope, no signing it or personal letter or anything. Shutterfly puts the name on the envelopes too.

  • Yes, I've decided that I am just putting the cards in the envelope as is. Everybody knows I have a 6 month old! Thanks!
