for the first time (needed to give my bruised and bloody nips a break) and even though its a Medela low-flow nipple, she ate it too fast and spit it all up.  And now I have to wait to have something to pump or for her to eat.  Poor DD.

First of all, your daughter is absolutely adorable.  Second, you may want to try the breastflow bottles if she is used to breastfeeding.  The flow is supposed to be much more like the breast.  DD has the same problem with eating too fast (which is killer combined with her reflux) and several people suggested these bottles to me.  I haven't had a chance to try them yet, but it might be worth it!  You can get them at BRU.

Congrats Sarah!!  I remmeber you from 3rd tri.  Your little girl is too cute!!  GL w/ BF'ing, its hard, but also rewarding.  The nipples will feel better in a few weeks, yes, a few weeks.  Sounds like forever, but you'll get there!

We had the same problem when we first fed ds after pumping w/the medela bottles..they suck for feeding IMO. I tried those adiri breastflow bottles the pp is talking about. They are just okay, fixed the problem but are kind of a pain to screw together or they leak and are about $14 a bottle. i got mine cheaper from the LC when i went in to get help for my bloody nipples.

I eventually switched to avent bottles..the 0-3m. slowest flow nipple and its worked great! you should give those a try.

We used the Nuk orthodontic nipples in the 0-3 month size and that worked well for us.  I also slowed her down by stopping every 1/2 ounce to burp.  Try not to worry about the spitting up today.  It looks like a lot, but she probably really only spit up a small amount of what she ate so she won't just be starving until her next feeding!  As for your nipples, try exposing them to air and use your Lansinoh cream- both should help a little!
