Milk Allergy Question

Is is possible for babies to develop an allergy to the formula even after 3 months of drinking the same one?

The reason I ask is because my son has had diarrhea for 9 days so far. We took him to the pedi after the 3rd day and she said it was a virus and it could last up to 10 days...but it shows no sign of slowing down? No fever, just the diarrhea. Also just as a note, the other day he had a bottle of pedialyte instead of his regular formula and the next diaper was just wet, no diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

Re: Milk Allergy Question

  • With DS, we found out he had an allergy to dairy (& soy) when my supply tanked and we had to supplement him- he wasn't diagnosed until he was 2.5 months.  He had bloody diarrhea (as well as really bad eczema and cradle cap on his scalp and face).  Aside from that, no symptoms.

I've taken him in for diarrhea since and the pedi has said to keep him on pedialyte for 24 hours to help clear everything up.  I would probably call the Dr and get him in again... and maybe try more than one bottle of the pedialyte.
