So annoyed with SIL!!!!!

This is probably totally stupid but I'm so annoyed/hurt right now! 

Today SIL was over and started trying to get DS to walk to her while they were in the living room.  He hadn't taken ANY independent steps or even tried so far.  I was off in the kitchen and saw out of the corner of my eye him take TWO STEPS BY HIMSELF!!  She got all excited and started screaming  "HE WALKED!  HE WALKED! OMG!"  Nice! Sooo...I didn't even really get to see it, DH for sure didn't get to see it, he wasn't walking to me or my husband, I didn't have the camera, it wasn't special at all, on and on and on.  I could cry just typing this.  Why the heck do people try to get YOUR DC to walk for the first time?!?!  I NEVER try to get my daycare babies to walk when I know they're close because it's just not my place.  I feel like it's suppose to be something special between the parents and DCs. 

For now I'm just going to block it out and pretend I never saw anything.  Ughh!!  Sad

    I'm sure she just wasn't thinking.  But I would be upset too.  I completely could feel it as I was reading the post.  I would be so upset.  I know there's nothing you can do, but I would say it doesn't "count" until he's walking to you!  :)

     FWIW, I don't remember Ben's first steps now... I'm sure I've written it down somewhere, and we probably took pictures on the 2nd or 3rd time... I know it was around Thanksgiving last year, and I think my dad was here.   But that's all I remember now.  So hopefully the hurt will fade as you load up with a zillion other firsts.  :)

    Oh my gosh I would be soooooooooo angry too.  That's so rude.  I agree- it doesn't count.

    Ugh, I'd be annoyed too!  I always tell myself that it doesn't happen until mama sees it happen anyway.  :)  Those milestones are the dates I write in the baby book!

    I agree...it's not the first until YOU see it.

    How annoying....  I have a MIL who would do the same thing...  UGH!

    Oh Ash I would be so upset too!  Huge hugs.  I agree that it does not count till you get to see it and be part of it!

    oh no! I'm sorry! I would be upset to! Now that I think of it I have done that with my little cousin. Oops. 

    Like you said, just pretend it never happend. :(
