Babies: 0 - 3 Months

We all do it...

...check on our sleeping babies periodically to see if they are breathing.  Does your DC's breathing ever get a little fast?  I get so nervous when I notice this.  I'm just hoping I'm not the only one.

Re: We all do it...

  • I check him constantly! sometimes his breathing can be fast, scarier though is when it is really slow... I love seeing him sleep though, he's so peaceful and some of his expressions are priceless.

  • Yup I check her all the time.  Sometimes she seems to be breathing really fast, sometimes real slow.  I'd feel the best if she'd just breathe normally.  Smile

  • Yes, I still do it with my toddler when he has a cold too.  Right now my younger son has a stuffy nose as well so he's sleeping in the pack n play at the end of our bed so I can hear him breathe at night!!  I agree- their faces are priceless while they're sleeping- I feel so blessed to have my sons!!!

  • When she was your Dc's age, her breathing was all over the place.

  • Yes, I still do it all the time.  It is very normal for them to have irregular breathing patterns.

  • Man it's become like a workout for me because I'm up, down, up, down, up,down constantly checking on him to make sure. My mom thinks Im crazy and she tries to reassure me that nothing will happen, but I still check.  That reminds me I should probably go check on him right now!
  • Yes!! And I will admit I wake him up just to make sure he is okay. Then I feel SO BAD for waking him...I can't help it!! First time mom.
  • Im glad you asked this. I was just wondering about DDs irregular breathing when she sleeps.
