Just talked to th ex husband

He myspaced me asking that I call him.  He's getting out of the Army this month and wanted to talk to me about child support and DD's medical/dental.  I told him that hes $209/month doesn't matter to me and that I have her covered on my own medical/dental so it's ok if she loses it.  DH is adopting DD and the court date is in Feb so I don't mind if the medical ends a few months before.  I just told him he better get with the state to clear up the child support before he gets screwed!  Ugh. Not the first person I wanted to talk to in the morning.

Now, I have a day of cleaning ahead of me along with my english final which is a 3 hour essay... basically once I open the assignment to find out the details, I have the next 3 hours to be finished.

    Personal question if you don't mind. I'm kind of in the same boat with DH wanting to adopt DD. But in the state I live it, my ex needs to give up his "rights" to her. Did your ex have to do that as well or were you allowed to proceed anyway?

    No prob!  My ex luckily gave up his rights, but only with the agreement that I wouldn't keep DD from him.  I know there is a way here in Hawaii to do a non-consent adoption, I believe it has to be when you don't know of the father's whereabouts. It involves publishing a notice in the paper for a certain amount of time to try to give the bio father a chance to be a part of everything.  This has taken me over a year (started in Jan, court's not till Feb) and it has been tough doing it on our own.  I'm sure that if we hired a lawyer we would have had everything taken care of by now, but financially, we had to do it on our own.  GL!!

    ugh. I know. The final couldn't have come at a worse time, with DH gone and no one here to distract the kids.  I sense a movie marathon in their near future LOL

    I changed DD's last name and the process was similar and just as long. Blah to the system!

    I changed DD's name too... I wanted to give her a 2nd middle name (my grandmas) but her father didn't want to.  As soon as I "was done" with him, I made him sign the consent to add that name in.  It also took forever, with the publishing of the notice in the paper, and the new birth cert and blah blah blah. I'm so glad the adoption is almost over!

    GL with it! I'm a wee bit jealous lol. I'm going to see if the "non consent" route is an option where I am. I finally just got DD's new birth cert and SSC. It's all such a pain in the ass! Glad to have someone to comiserate with. lol
