Do you give clothes to DC for Christmas?

DD is starting to grow again. I feel like I should buy her clothes for Christmas in addition to the toys, but then think she won't even notice if they are juts hung up in her closet.

I was wrapping her gifts last night and I counted 13. I think she has enough to go under the tree, but I'm not sure we wil get the reaction from clothes.

Re: Do you give clothes to DC for Christmas?

  • I do, only b/c it gives me an excuse to wrap up a few more presents for him to open.  Frankly, I'd be buying them for him anyway, so I consider them *extra* gifts, not part of what I budget to spend on him at Christmas.
  • I never give clothes as gifts, the kids don't care about them at all.  I also don't like giving necessities as gifts (at least until they are teens and actually want clothes for Christmas).

This may stem from my IL's though.  They give all of us (kids too) toothbrushes, clothes, plastic bowls, etc for Christmas and I think it's lame.

  • DH told me I couldn't.  I guess I will just have to give him the sweatshirt I bought for him early.

  • I do.  She likes them though.  SHe shows everyone.  I think this helps when others give her clothes.   I would hate if one of our relatives or friends bought her an outfit and she didn't seem appreciative.  If I make a big deal, she will think it is a big deal.  Plus I love clothes.
  • I do, but DD is 3 and loves getting new clothes! She got 2 new outfits from gymboree, 2 pairs of PJs and a new pair of sneakers and I think she'll be just excited to open them as she will all of her toys.

I also really appreciate when family members buy her clothes for her birthday (which is only 10 days before Xmas) and Christmas -- I'd much rather have clothes than toys that she won't likely play with more than a few times.

  • If you needed extra clothes then I would but it sounds like it's not needed and might be too many in the end for her to open, might get overwhelmed.  When DS is older I will likely get some clothes but hope to stick to extra things he wants and not things he needs.

  • I normally wrap up clothes for my son.  It gives him something else to open on Christmas!  My son sometimes likes to open clothes and sometimes he doesn't   :)
