Why is it so hard to find a playpen?

Why don't they make "playpens" anymore? DD is too strong for her "pack & play" now...she stands up & holds on to one side, and it nearly tips over when she's moving! My brother/SIL are giving me their Graco playpen from when my nephew was a baby (it's only 5 years old), which is PERFECT. It's an octagon shape with plenty of room for her to move. Problem is, I'm taking that one to my aunt's house (her daytime caregiver), so I need one for our house. I'm searching Ebay & Craigslist, but no luck. I just need something for her to play in while I do things....why is that so difficult?

  • we're planning on getting one of those superyard gates and putting it around her foam skip-hop tiles.

  • I just saw one at BRU by Graco yesterday. I had been wondering what happend to them as well and the POOF there it was! GL
  • I saw a Graco playpen at BRU the other day. ?It is the first time I have seen a true playpen, other than a PNP. ?The playpen I saw was still labeled "pack n play", but it was square and bigger than the regular PNPs. ?it also did not have a bassinet. ?I would call it a playpen.

  • Are you talking about one of these or these.  That's the only thing I can think of that would work for that.  We are getting one soon too.

  • I think I will have to buy those gates with the foam mats. I've never seen them in person....I just hope they are sturdy enough for DD not to knock over. She is a strong one! Thanks ladies!
  • Joovy Room Play yard at BRU. Look as if it's a traditional square playpen but not for sure. I am just going to use the super yard with my skip hop mat.
