DS is about to graduate to a Convertible carseat and it got me thinking... since it's not portable like the infant seat, what do you do when you travel?
We live in LA and travel home to NYC a lot to visit family, and we always brought our infant carseat with us on the plane and then had it for car travel while we were there. What do we do now? Rent one, buy another, or is there another option I'm not thinking of? TIA
Re: Convertible Carseats and Travel
we have always taken ours with us. For getting around the airport, I put it in the stroller (obviously don't USE it, it jsut sits there) and then gate check both. I haven't even attempted taking it on the plane.
But it is really easy to travel with. Just ask for a big plastic bag for it to gate check.
We just did this for T-day ...
We bought a strap on amazon.com that connected the baby seat to our carry-on luggage ... we planned to gate-check the car seat (and carry-on the luggage as usual) but got a free seat next to ours on the flight when we checked-in ... so we brought the carseat onboard, baby slept, and life was wonderful.

Good luck.
