Birthday buddies will be randomly paired people that can check in with each other, send birthday notes to, you can send gifts (if you want that will be between you and your bb), and become friends with even possibly pen pals. They will not necessarily have the same birthday, but might. It is just someone that you can check in with for stats etc and just overall get to know someone that has a close birthday as your childs...
