I got a speeding ticket rushing to the docs office because I thought I was leaking my water. I had DS 20 hours later. I even brought DS's birth certificate to court and they only reduced the points on the ticket. I was pissed.
Technically if you need to rush to the hospital and you are in that much of a hurry, you should call 911 (for previous poster).
As for the original story, I can't even fathom having a cop being an ass to someone who ASKED for help like that and then sexually harassed them by asking the woman to undress herself for him.
That just makes me mad. As someone who has VERY short labors (read: 1hr 16min from water breaking to baby born with DS#2) I would have had the baby in the car by the time he wrote the damn ticket. Were they wrong for speeding? yes. Was driving in the breakdown lane illegal? of course, However, that's no reason that that cop had to be such a d.ick.

That cop is ridiculous. He's lucky it wasn't DH & I on the way to the hospital, I know for a fact DH wouldn't have even stopped, he woulda kept on going lights chasing us and all.
I know, but i was early and didn't know what was going on. It also was not like I was going 10-15 over or more. I was scared and trying to get to the doc because they told me to go in there not the hospital.
You're also not thinking rationally in those situations, or at least I was not. In the car on the way to the hospital a friend drove us because neither of us was fit to drive at that point. I had laboured a long time at home and the contractions were doubling up 2 minutes apart. It was nutty. I knew it wasn't going to be long. We were both tired, excited, nervous, and shaking. A traffic jam would have made me freak out. The only serious pain I had the entire time I was in labour was while sitting down. It nearly knocked me flat. That drive was brutal.
Re: Did anyone see this story?
That is absolutely horrible. I heard that on the way in this morning.
Awful.
