What is the best gift you have ever received? No cheating and saying family or children--we all know those are the most precious gifts. I'm talking completely materialistic here.
Honestly...I think a necklace DH got me our first year of dating. It was a heart with a single diamond. Unfortunately I lost it. It still kills me...we were at the condo in the mountains. I left it behind and I am sure the cleaning people swiped it. It wasn't super expensive, but I loved it.
If my engagement ring counts, then that's it. DH picked it out himself and I absolutely adore it. It is perfect in every way.
I still remember my first Red Wings game pretty vividly, and the tickets for that were a gift. A hokey one though--last year, my students (who I taught as 9th and 10th graders) signed a banner and made me a styrofoam award. It sits on my desk still and the banner is up behind my desk. I love it and it will always remind me of my first years of teaching.
Last year we had very little money to spend on Christmas. DH remembered that i had said something a while back about these doofy books i read when i was a kid. Kind of a Hardy Boys knock-off called the Happy Hollisters. My family had 2 of the books. He found them online and got them for me for about $5 total, and reads them to me at night when i have trouble sleeping.
OMG the books are horrible but it was the sweetest gift ever!
On my b-day DH told me he was sick and left work. After work I came home and he had cooked some pasta, roasted chocolate stuffed strawberries, and had a bottle of wine waiting on the table with candles. He cleaned his mess up ( which never happens ) and he got me some nice sheets for the bed. I was very impressed and drunk by the end of the night.
Considering it's winter in Michigan I'd have to say the remote starter my DH installed in my car. I'm sure I've received nicer gifts before but this is one I'm happy to have each cold wintery morning.

I read those when I was little too!
