NBR: opinions please...

DH got me an elliptical machine for an early Christmas present (yes, I asked for it :)) Anyway, I have two options of where to put it:

?1) downstairs in the family room, although it would be pretty crowded and in the corner of ?room we use a lot.

2) upstairs in the office. plenty of room, however, it shares a wall with the nursery and I'm worried about the noise. The machine would be across the room, but I have no idea how loud it would be, and I'll be using it mostly during her nap time. ?

?What do you ladies think??

  • #2 - and hope the noise lulls her to sleep

  • #2- ditto pp about the noise - it could work like white noise and help her sleep.
  • mine is quiet..well, right now its a close hanger..

but when i get off my lazy butt and use it, its quiet.

i put the tv on when using it so ds has a fan in his room :)

  • #2 - if she can even hear it at all she'll just get used to it.  It'll be like white noise.
  • I would go with #2

  • If you're anything like me, you'll actually become too anxious about using it during nap times even if there's a chance she'd be lulled by the sound of it. Just think to those times you've had to work extra hard to get her down for a nap.....you will SO not use that thing at that time.......and so it may go.

I'd do #1 and say you'll end up making it fit somehow. I live in the world's teeniest apartment and somehow I always find a way to fit things :)

  • Wherever YOU think you will use it most. For me, I need access to a TV to use my equipment. So if there is something about either place that might turn you off (aside from what you mentioned), don't do it. It's easy to find an excuse not to work out, so I suggest stacking the deck in your favor.

  • I COULD NEVER HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN MY LIVING ROOM!  Talk about an eyesore...

  • I would put it in the office if she's a reasonably good sleeper. ?They make such a swish, swish noise that I think she might like it. ?If you find it bothers her we've had great luck with putting a sound machine right outside of DS door so it really blocks out noise for him but it's not loud in his room.
