Push walkers for girls

I've been looking for a walker type-toy for DD.  One that converts from a sit on to push-walker if possible but I haven't seen any for little girls, everything seems geared towards boys (trucks, cars, etc.).  Any suggestions?

Re: Push walkers for girls

  • I bought Josephine a bedazzled glittery fairy princess walker so she wouldn't be confused by the cars and trucks. I don't want her identifying with boy type things or eating blue icing, or exposed to "blue" influences of any sort. This walker has a cute fan that starts up when she walks so it is like walking down a runway on ANTM! It also has a make up compartment, mirror, and vanity plate that says "hot girl tot."

    It's awesome!

  • Target has a disney princess ride on toy, it doesn't convert though. My DD is older but she has a FP stroller that she pushes around with her baby doll in it. I think it's for 8 or 9 month+, she used it around 7 months though.

    lol

Maybe I shouldn't have gotten Madeleine those little trucks for her stocking.

  • Madeleine and Josephine both need model influences. Both have pudge. That's cute now but come 18 months... not so cute. You know? I mean Jo is in 24 month sizes now. That's not ok.

I plan on using the princess bedazzled walker in our exercise regime. You might want to think the same for your own porkchop.

(By the way, I love that she and Jo have both the chunk AND the hair!!! She has even more than Jo does!)

  • Thanks.  Donkey -- I like the car one.

Lanie -- not at all what I was getting at but thanks for blowing my question out of proportion.

  • lol, lanie.

We have the FP stride-to-ride lion for DD. It's not girly, but she loves, loves, loves it. She's been walking for 1.5 months now and still likes to push it around.

  • There's a fisher price shopping cart. Is that what you meant by girly?

    ::rolls eyes::

I think because walkers are generally designed to help kids walk, not focus on gender. I find it a very absurd question. How is a car geared for boys?

That tutu yesterday came with a whole bunch of ballerina expectations, too.  Hmmm...do you look at my child and think, "ballerina," because I sure don't.

You've inspired me.  I will take the trucks out of the stocking and replace them with a teeny tiny thigh master.  Pink, of course.

And, about the hair, I've been meaning to ask you, when are you going to cut Jo's hair?  Madeleine's is crazy out-of-control but I'm not cutting it until she's at least a year.

  • We CANT cut until at least a year because my husband's culture doesn't support that. apparently you have to wait for a year. She's currently growing a mullet fast and furious. Someone call CPS!

I'm just brushing it, using elastics (she hates them) and ::gulps:: some bows to keep it out of her face. Other than that I have to suck it up for a few more months.

Then I'm taking her to melonhead, the kids salon for her first cut. :)

  • It's not a cultural thing with him, but my husband insists on waiting until she's a year.  I try pigtails to keep it neat, but the elastics don't stay in very well.  I need to use no more tangles or it becomes a rat's nest.
  • What's wrong with girls sitting in cars and trucks?

     * eowynmn drove a truck for 2 years

Didn't you know that girls aren't supposed to drive?!?!  We are supposed to wait for our prince charming to come along, and then he will take care of all of the driving.

    Silly lanie...

To each their own.  I find the dump truck walkers etc. to be more geared towards boys.  It's just my opinion.  I'm sure some moms find bows in hair to be more specific to girls.  This doesn't mean I don't want her to play with cars or trucks.  I just happen to want to get her a walker that is not a truck (which up until now is all I have found).  The push lion is more what I was thinking.  My apologies if my question was not worded appropriately for you.

Dump trucks aren't gender specific, they are job specific.  duh.

  • So...would that be a "no" on the stroller walker with the baby doll?
