Just curious if anyone is trying/mastering/avoiding it! he has no clue what it means to go potty! He sits on it but doesnt get the concept. Where are you at with it?
DS pees on the potty a lot (3-4 times a day) but we're no where near ready to fully potty train. I just sit him on it whenever I have time after I take a dirty diaper off of him.
I'm a Spring '06 mommy, but DS is still no where near training - he's only now starting to show some interest in sitting on the potty/toilet, but we've yet to see anything productive happen - lol.
so you just sit him on there and he goes? my kid has no idea! and hes older, i know they develop differently but i dont know if its something i can 'teach' him or not
I started just putting him on there right before his bath. The first thing he ALWAYS did after getting in the tub was stand up and pee. So that's why I started doing it before bath. After a few days I started doing at diaper changes.
We bought him a Diego seat that fits on the toilet and he loves looking at the boats on it.
DS was very interested for awhile there and peed on the potty several times at daycare, but that's passed now. I just got his potty out again tonight and he sat on it for about 30 seconds, so we'll see what he does. I don't want to force it but if he shows interest again I'm going to jump at the chance to start PTing.

lol, pottytraining? What's that ? Seriously, DD has peed a few times and went #2 once or twice, but that's it. She even hates having her diaper changed. All the while, her cousin who is 6 1/2 months younger seems to be going on the potty more than she is!
Nora was doing so well for about a week. She was excited about using the potty. For some reason, she has no desire to try anymore. We ask her several times a day if she wants to go, but she always says no. She's starting to stay dry over night and almost always tells us right after she's gone in her diaper, so I don't know what happened. I hope we can start again soon.
S will usually go when we put her on her potty, but she won't ask to go yet. They put her on regularly at day care and she goes about 75% of the time there. I need to get on a schedule when we're at home, but I'm just not in any sort of hurry. Public bathrooms skeeve me out and I'm just not ready to face that yet.?
DD won't get near the potty. ?The few times I've tried to set her on it she has freaked out. ?Her Dr mentioned it at her 2 year appt that since DD is delayed in speech she might be on the upper age end for potty training since she can't/won't tell me she has to go.?

Another spring 06 mom here. DD learned to go on the potty around 18-20 months old. This sounds like a brag but in reality I wasn't really training her. I was working on her sister who was just turning 3 and the younger kid went along for the ride. She caught on way faster than her sister, who could have cared less if she was wet. Can I throw a shout out to the Elmo potty DVD? It helped with remembering to wash hands and flushing. Ultimately it was the m&ms that did it for her (different thing worked for big sis).

Not interested in the least. Like another pp: I sit him on the potty before every bath/shower and after every diaper change, but he has yet to go. Most of the time he doesn't want to sit on it at all and when he does we have to sing the ABC song or he just gets right up and walks/runs away. He doesn't care if he is wet or poopy and doesn't even seem to mind having a dirty diaper, although - I have been mentioning his diaper being yucky when he has gone poop or pee and will show him the dirty diaper (in hopes that he gets the concept one of these days).
DS is an oct. 06 baby, i dont think he's anywhere near ready to potty train, although some days he does want to sit on the potty. DS got sorrda interested after he started seeing DH and I go, he liked the "noise" of the pee hitting the water, so then he'd want to go and make the noise also. he has pooped on the potty a few times, but i think it's because he gets constipated and holds his poop in and when he sits on the potty it relaxes him and doesn't make it hurt so much when he poops. I wouldn't worry though, my pedi said boys tend to take a little longer and usually dont show interest until 3.

I'm fearing it's gonna be awhile...
