Aerobeds?

We usually go to Montana for Christmas, but with the baby due the first week in January we're going to stay close to home.

So my Dad wants to come out and spend Christmas with us... in our teeny 700 sq ft apartment.

I'm thinking of getting 2 twin air mattresses.  DH and I can sleep on them and my Dad can take our real bed.  (My Dad had hip surgery, so he there is no way he could stand up from the floor).  We have a queen air mattress and I hate it.  Whenever DH or I move, it wakes up the other person.  Also, it has a slow leak so we need to replace it.

I've heard good things about Aerobed... Anyone slept on one?

Re: Aerobeds?

  • If you're due in January, do you tihnk you're goign to be able to sleep on an air mattress?  I could barely get out of my regular bed by the end!!

I have heard good things about aerobeds though.  ANd there are some that have a "frame" to them so they're up at regular bed height.   I just saw that buy.com had twin aerobeds on sale though...

Good luck with figuring out a good plan though!!   You're much nicer than I am to be giving up your bed that late in your pregnancy!

  • oh, and make sure you have a plan for if you already have the baby.  If you're due the first week of January, there's a very real chance you could have your baby by Christmas!

  • I have a queen size aero bed and it's so stinking firm and comfy, I slept on mine after I had ds for the first 3 months with him... during all of our daytime naps... Everyone who comes over loves it! But when your that pg, I would make sure you have lot's of pillows to prop yourself up... also just get a queen or a king size one... if ti can fit in the rooms.
  • There is no way I could get myself up off the floor or an air matress right now!  You are a brave, brave woman =P
  • I'd get one of the full height ones if I were you.  They are comfortable, and much easier to roll out of.  I really think you'll struggle up from the floor for all those middle of the night bathroom breaks without it.  Bonus, if your water breaks on it, they are waterproof!

LOL!  I had not considered this!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I'll see if I can find one with a stand or a frame or something.

  • On a girls trip to D.C. and NYC, me and a friend slept on a Queen sized Aerobed, and I slept so well I forgot where I was.  I tried to cuddle w/my girlfriend, thinking she was my husband.  Needless to say I was very impressed w/how comfortable the thing was.
