Ashamed to admit

we are just getting our DD off the paci.  She just used it at night. We stopped it because she was waking up a couple times a night screaming because her paci fell out of her crib and she wanted it back. That was when we decided to let it go.  Now she is screaming her head off.  I hope this doesn't last long.  It's like CIO all over again.

Re: Ashamed to admit

  • My son is one day younger than your dd and he still uses a paci.  I have no plans of taking it away any time soon.  We give him 3-4 a night to have in his crib.
  • Loading the player...
  • My DD still uses hers at night and nap.  Should I be ashamed?  I'm not.
  • she isn't even 2! is that so bad? I don't think so!

Good luck, I hope it goes quickly...I am sort of hoping this baby will take a paci; my daughter never did.

they say it may potentially help reduce SIDS risk...

  • My son is a few days older than your DD and we have no plans to wean him off the paci yet. With a new baby coming, I think it's more important than ever that he have that as a comfort object. With that said - he only gets it at nap time and bed time and in EXTREME emergencies. I am anticipating some of those once #2 comes along :-)

  • I have no idea what the 'norm' is.  I am normally not one who cares what others think but I was starting to worry that she was throwing the paci out so we would come in.

My confession:  I sucked my thumb into my teens and I guess I'm a little parinoid that she is going to have the same problem.

  • My son still has his, but he only has 3 left and he chews holes in them.  So when the 3 are gone that's it.  I'm not looking forward to dealing with it, he will not be happy.

  • Ethan still has his. He can only have it at night, but we just started that about 2 months ago.
  • My DD still has hers and I'm not even thinking about getting rid of it. We had it down to night only, but then she got sick and has molars coming in. So now she is using it during the day again. We'll get down to nights only again once the teeth come in - hopefully soon.
