I need your nestie opinions please.

My friend's son's birthday and my son's birthday are the same day.  Her son's party is this Sunday the 7th, my son's is next Saturday the 13th...

Our other friend and her husband and daughter (18 months) just had a really nasty stomach bug all day Saturday into Sunday.  She has the runs really bad now, and threw up in the middle of the night last night twice.  She was planning on going to my friends son's party this Sunday as long as she is feeling better.

I know when my son had the stomach bug in february he had the runs for 10 days, so gross, although he was acting normal.  But they were really nasty diapers for 10 days.  I didn't bring him anywhere to expose anyone.-

What I am concerned about is bringing Brandon this Sunday to the party with my friends daughter there and them sharing toys and drinks (which always happens) and him getting sick for his party.  We have people out of town coming and I don't want our family sick for something that has been planned and payed for.

How do I avoid this though without people getting mad a me???  am I being silly.  Would you take your kid after you knew someone was that sick and still had nasty diapers?

  • I should also say she just didn't throw up last night twice.  She threw up all day Sat. and Sunday on the hour for those 24-36 hours.  It was a bad virus!

  • I wouldn't assume she would still be sick this weekend and I would assume that the mother wouldn't bring her if she was.  I mean she said "as long as she is feeling better" so I would just trust that she means it.

  • I wouldn't worry about it unless the child is still throwing up or has a fever, runny nose or bad cough by Sunday. A week is plenty of time to get rid of most viruses.
  • DD has had the stomach bug a couple times, but they never lasted longer than 2-3 days.  If the little girl is feeling better, it's possible she isn't having bad diapers anymore.

My thoughts are that DD would be exposed to the same sort of thing at daycare, so I would still bring her to the party.

  • I think I would still take my kid. I'm not sure if it would be that big of a risk.
  • i would go and take a bottle of hand sanitizer and use that a couple of times (discretely if possible so I didn't look too crazy). :)
