Anyones DC use Elecare?

Just wondered if anyones kid was on elecare and now they are able to eat normal food or on normal formula? My DD is on elecare but they don't kow what exactly is wrong, and I don't know that we ever will. Just wondered if any one had been on this for awhile but there child was eventually able to adjust to normal foods.  TIA!

Re: Anyones DC use Elecare?

  • DD was on it from 4 months until 9 or 10 months. We were able to wean her onto regular formula, then onto whole milk at one year. She eats very well now, and has no problems, though we're not introducing nuts or shellfish until 3 years.

We had a really rough time with her - trying to sort out what was wrong. By the time she was put on Elecare she was screaming 24/7 (no exaggeration, terrible, obvious pain screaming), had stopped gaining, was covered head to toe in eczema, vomited constantly, had constant diarrhea, and was pooping straight blood from colitis.  We did testing for Intussusception at one point because the pain was so bad for her.

Once we put her on Elecare she was a whole new baby. I had done extensive diet eliminations (dairy, soy, nuts and eggs) and she still couldn't digest the milk. The recommendation of her specialists was to remove all potential allergens to give her body a chance to recover and outgrow them... it seemed to work so far.

    Good luck, hang in there.
