come in here if the circ went fine

all these botched circumcision stories are freaking me out so I thought I'd share a "circ went well" story.

ds was circumcised for religious reasons 1 week after he was born.  It was done by a pediatrician in our home.  he had topical pain blocker, cried when his diaper was removed, and stopped crying the moment it was placed back on.  i think he disliked being undressed equally to being cut.  He healed quickly, just a few days of ointment.  He developed a minor adhesion a few months later but it was taken care of with a warm bath, and some ointment.  he's totally fine and i can't forsee any problems in the future.  He's 2 yo.

Re: come in here if the circ went fine

  • We had no problems at all with our first son's circ.
  • DS had the plastibell and we didnt have any issues with it at all.  No adhesions, or complications.

  • Both of my boys were circ'd (DH is Jewish) and we never had one problem. We've never had to pull back the skin, had adhesions, etc. ?That said, I would not have picked to have the circ done but let DH made the decision since it was important to him from a religious standpoint. ?But, luckiliy, things went smoothly and are boys are no worse for the wear :)

  • DS's circ was perfect.  Also done for religious reasons by a mohel.  He had a topical pain blocker as well as a shot.  Healed great, only had one case of adhesion when he was under 6 mos old.  I never had to pull back any skin or anything.

From what I understand, docs in hospitals are a little more conservative with circs now.  They'd rather leave a little extra skin than take too much off, I guess.  But, that causes problems too.

  • My son's was fine, no problems, healed quickly.  But hearing these stories makes me feel really lucky and I'm not sure I'd chance it again.

  • We had no problems with actual procedure with ?Nathan although it took them longer than I anticipated. ? There were several baby boys in the back and I was told he'd be done in one hour, 2 hours go by slowly and I find out that they went ahead and did the hearing test, etc...I just wanted him back. ?It pissed me off that I had to hunt someone down and ask about my son. ?I took 3 hours to get him back....grrr, one of many reason I left the hospital early

  • G is fine.  we had it done at home by a moyel. healed fast.
  • We had no issues.  It was done by an OB in the practice and he had a topical ointment for pain.  We never pulled back the skin, had any adhesions, etc.

  • Ours was perfect as well!
  • No probs with my DS's...our OB did it and I was confident with her.
  • No problems with the procedure or with the healing.

  • We had no problems. He had it done when he was 1 day old - was gone from our room for less than 15 minutes and came back sleeping. Never had adhesions, we never had to pull it back, etc. Totally fine and we will circ again if we ever have another boy.

Also, I went to my first bris the other week and was impressed by how the baby barely cried - it didn't seem to phase him, and like you said - I think he cried more about being undressed, etc. at the time.

  • Totally fine here :)
  • Ours went fine too. They did it at the hospital and when they brought him back to me, they told me he didn't even cry.
