Hello.  My name is melinda and me and my hubby are just starting the adoption process.  We've had our over the phone interview and in january we have to fly over to the facility and have our in person orientation.  It's just the beginning and we have SO much more to do, I know.  But I was looking into ideas of how we could afford to do the adoption and I saw something that said adoption fundraising calendars.  What is this and how can I partake in this?  Thank you so much for any help that anyone can give me.

Hi Melinda--

People do everything from calendars to cook books to TShirts and anything else you can thin of. You can set up a paypal account, etc. to handle donations/purchases, etc.

And, as I always do at the end of my posts, will remind you that foster/adoption is free through the state/county in which you live.

My hubby and I have discussed fostering to adopt and I think it's so difficult for us to deal with the birth mothers getting their act together and taking back their child.  I hope that doesn't sound horribly selfish..

You should also check with your employer.  Both mine, and DH's will reimburse us for adoption costs up to $3,000 per child per employer (so $6000).  Check your benefit package...
