Can you freeze leftover Gerber food?

DD only needed about 1/3 a carton of Prunes to get things moving...so I don't want to feed her anymore, for fear of a diaper explosion, yet I also hate to throw them away, knowing she may need a tablespoon here or there in the future if she's constipated again.

So, can I freeze the leftover food in an ice cube tray the way you freeze homemade food? I don't see why not....

Re: Can you freeze leftover Gerber food?

  • I have no idea.  I know it says to refrigerate it and use it within 2-3 days.  I would assume you could freeze it.  But I'm not 100% sure.

  • I wouldn't do it.  We fed DD prunes for 4 days straight, and we didn't end up with any explosions that were that bad.

  • DD's diaper was already explosive after just 1/3 of a jar! I shudder to think of what might come from 4 days straight!! ;-)

I might just toss it. It's 75 cents, no big deal. I just hate being wasteful, you know?

  • If you fed her out of the jar I wouldn't freeze it, but if you put some into a separate bowl to feed her, then I think it would be fine. Just don't freeze it in the glass jar!
