tell me about these longies...

I'm a newbie - How do you use these cute longies I keep seeing? Are you making them from scratch or upcycling or what?

i'm a cheapass so i go to thrift stores, buy nice-quality wool (merino, lambswool, cashmere) and cut them up.  there are a few different patterns you can try:

the bonus is that they are cheap, natural fibers, fairly easy to make and breatheable.  you can knit them from scratch if you like.  i'm busy knitting other things right now.

I buy mine on DS, Hyena cart, & Etsy.  I'm having my first 2 custom made woolies done in April!

Do you use them the same as any CD cover? (That's what they're for, right...?)

Yup.  They breathe better than PUL.   Wool will hold 30% it's weight in moisture.  It will be wet inside and dry outside.  It keeps baby warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  It's practically indestructable, and will last for years!  You wash in wool wash or lanolin (still got that lasinoh laying around?)  Lay flat to dry.

We wash about once a month, because wool only needs washed every 6-10 wears.
