Poll: How much $$ on a Christmas tree?

DH and I went to two different places to pick out a Christmas tree this morning and they were $40 for a 5-6 foot Nobel fir.  At both places all of the trees were already dry and browning, so we didn't get one.

*Sigh* I am not going to pay that much money for a tree that won't even make it to Christmas!

  • This is why we wait until the 18th to buy a tree. By that time, prices are often lower, and the trees are not as expensive. We got a very nice one last year for $30.
  • They range from $25 to $35 at fundraiser type groups (like Kiwanis groups - churches etc.) At the tree farm they were around $50...

  • I don't trust the lifespan of any live tree that isn't from a "cut it yourself" farm. So, we have our artificial tree for the 3rd year in a row. I think next year we'll go cut our own.

  • They are 40 for the big ones at our local grocery store (they come from a local farm).  They'll last till Christmas.  We're going to get a smaller one (maybe 3ft) for 20 bucks.  We go to my parent's for Christmas, so I don't want to go overboard!
  • We go to tree farms where they are $20 for any size tree, but we have to cut them down ourselves!

  • Home Depot had them from between $25 and $35. We got one for $30. I looked at a local farm stand and they were $75 - ouch!

  • Ours was $35.00 and it's about 8 feet tall, a Grand Noble. The lot where I got it had tons and they looked to be in good condition, I honestly was expecting to pay more.
  • I paid $80 for a 6 feet tree very full.
  • $65 - but that is for a 10 foot tree. Yes, we have a BIG tree this year!
