scrapbooking girls need some ideas

I'm not really sure how to do this and I haven't seen anyone with anything like this so any thoughts would be appreciated:

When I daughter was born, the nurses did her footprints and then put her little feet on my husbands scrubs. I'd like to frame it along with a few other items in a shadowbox type frame. Here's a complete list of items that are sentimental:

scrubs top w/ her footprints

her first binkie (that she doesn't use anymore)

the little hat she got on her birth day and wore in the hospital

the birth announcement we sent out (a 4x7 card)

her hospital bracelet

I know we'll have to fold the top to fit into a reasonably sized frame because I don't want something that's 3 ft x 4 ft but I'm concerned you won't know what it is if I get it small enough.

I'm clueless, any ideas at all or photos of your own would really help! I've asked around at several different places both online and in scrapbooking places and nobody has any ideas for me.

HELP!

  • Where on the scrub top did they put the prints?

over his heart, so right near the center (she was a little squirmy at the time)

  • I would try to fold it close to the neckline, to give an idea of what it is, then maybe fold one sleeve in for a little more definition. I'd tuck the other sleeve and the rest under to the back. You may want to consider trimming it off with pinking shears for a better fit.

I had to go with the big jersey size shadowbox when I did my father's Class A uniform jacket. He was a Marine sargeant, and he died when I was 15m. I had used the buttons from it on my wedding bouquet and my husband's bouttoniere, so then I mounted it in the box and added my dried bouquet, bouttoniere, our program and wedding invitation, a picture of my father in his uniform, and one of us at the wedding. I mounted the jacket first, then placed the bouquet in the crook of his sleeve. Everything else just went in organically, where it seemed to work best.

My best advice is to play with your stuff. Arrange, rearrange. The great thing about shadowboxes is that you aren't ever locked into anything.

  • Thanks!!  Good idea about tucking, one sleeve up and one down - that might work out.
