Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How has your baby's poop changed....

since starting solids?  She has been on solids (baby food + cereal for a little over a week) and she hasn't pooped since Tuesday.  The going for days on end isn't the part that has changed.  It is how she poops.  Now she is grunting and getting red in the face.  Everytime I got to look there is barely anything there.....TMI.....like a little nugget stuck in her crack.  She has been fussy which isn't at all like her so I think she is constipated.  Tongue Tied

Re: How has your baby's poop changed....

  • I was always told that constipation would yield harder pellet-like stools. Sounds like that's what your DD has...or is on the way. Are you using rice cereal? If so, I'd switch out to oatmeal.

ETA: Oh, to answer your actual question, DD just increased her solids intake this week (from like a few spoonfuls to about half a jar) and she has had two form poos. They are soft and mushy but formed a flattened out meatball in her diaper lol. And boy did it SMELL!!!

No, we already use oatmeal :(

  • I went out last night and bought some baby food prunes since it had been a few days.  She didn't really like the taste, so I mixed some in with her cereal.  It worked!  She had three HUGE poops this morning.

Oh, and her poops aren't really any more solid.  They are though stickier and waaaayyyy smellier!

    GL!
