Hi - my DD refuses to drink formula. I have tried to mix it with some breastmilk, mix it in her food so she can get used to the taste, use a sippy cup etc..any suggestions? I have been trying for 2 weeks now and she screams and hits it away.
She has been only BF (bottles too) for 6 months and than had an allergic reaction to formula when she tried it for the first time a few weeks ago so now I am trying Similac Alimentum. I travel for work so I really need to be able to supplement.
Thanks!
Re: BF Baby won't take formula - tips?
We just had to start supplementing with formula also. He didn't really care for the Alimentum (we tried for about a week), so I switched to the Nutramigen (the same thing, just the Enfamil brand) and he's doing better with it. I think that unfortunately you're just going to have to keep trying. It sounds like you've tried all of the "tricks."
It seems like the Alimentum/Nutramigen is kind of stinky! It's gotta be a big change for them - going from sweet breastmilk to the formula. Good luck!
we had this problem too. do it gradually. Pour a bottle of 3/4th BM and a 1/4 of formula for a couple of days. then increase the formula as you decrease the BM. let baby get used to it that way. then you can go back and forth with BM and Form. GL
