Cough - Vicks on Feet?

Ok, so I know this is a OWT, but have any of you tried it? Little one has a really bad cough, and obviously I cant give him medicine for it....so I want to make him feel as comfortable as possible.

 I was Googling options and this came up - so just checking to see if any of you tried this ;)

    It works.  Eucalyptus essential oil works too

    they make a baby vapo-rub that you can put on their chest.  smells just like Vick's vapo-rub.  I got it in the baby section at CVS.

    vicks on the feet with socks, and some on her back too.

    Trying again. June 2011 - Clomid/1500 mg Met / Baby Aspirin - BFFN!

    July 2011 Femara/1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - c/p

    August 2011 - Femara/1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - c/p

    September 2011 - Puregon/ 1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - BFFN!!!!

    We have always done this in my family....for babies and adults alike! In fact, I'll probably be applying Vicks to my own feet in about an hour since I'm fighting a wicked cold.

    It worked for my girls.  But I had to reapply it every 3 hours or so...but it worked.  :)

    DS coughed all night Wednesday.  I tried it last night, and he didn't cough at all!  I put it on his feet again tonight.

    Someone enlighten me - why on the feet?  Because it's too strong on the chest?  I guess I could see that on a baby, but it still sounds weird.  But on an adult???

    My pedi said that there were a couple of babies that had died from the vapors or something like that when the vicks was applied to their chest.  He said not to put it on babies.  He also said that his partners wife wanted to try it on the feet of their 2 year old.  Her husband didn't reccomend it.  THe 2 year old woke up crying because he said his feet burned!

    We apply Vick's on DD's feet anytime she begins to get a runny nose or cold.  Even if it's teething symptoms, it seems to help.  And she hasn't had any problems with it.  We do this with our feet as well when we're sick.  I think it works, but who really knows!

    I've used the vapor rub specifically for babies and it seemed to help w/ DD's cough.  I would not buy the regular kind - definitely try and find the baby version- the adult kind is too strong.  Target has it, that's what I used.
