I’ve been going to the MFM at Swedish Issaquah, but I’m concerned because the doctor never shows up only the RN. All of my appointments are scheduled as though I’ll be seeing the doctor, but instead the RN comes in, spends less than 5 minutes, says “everything looks fine,” asks if I have questions, and rushes out.

We haven’t had any real conversations about delivery planning, and nothing has been discussed about my baby being breech. I’m starting to feel uneasy about the level of care and communication.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Swedish Issaquah’s MFM team? How were your appointments handled?

Good afternoon everyone!

My name is Andrea and I am 30 years old. My husband and I will start trying in September and I had a couple question that I know that moms will be able to answer. So that everyone understands my position, I will explain my story first. I grew up in a household where my mom, who was always very honest despite loving us a lot, told me how hard is to have kids and how I should never have them if I want a calm life. I always saw pregnancy/having kids as something that stops you in life and that only will bring you headaches. I love kids (in fact, I work with them at a school!) but I am terrified of having my own.
With that said, I want to address my questions to moms who might help me understand and be less scared.

1. When pregnant (the first 3 months) does it stop you from doing your daily life? (work to be more specific).
2. How does your body feel? Does your belly become heavy to the point of not being able to do your normal routine?
3. How much does it cost to give birth?
4. Is there financial help regarding daycare?
I am sure I will have more questions but for now, all these are the ones that bothers my mind the most.

Thank you!

Hi all - I am looking for a recommendation on a new OB in the greater Seattle area. I have been seeing a doctor through Swedish and have gone through all the fertility testing and still have been unable to get pregnant after a year of trying. I am 37 and my DH is 34. We would like to find a doc who would be willing to prescribe Chlomid for us without having to go through Seattle Reproductive Medicine because our insurance does not cover it. Have you had an experience where your regular OB was willing to prescribe? It seems like all the docs at Swedish just push you over to SRM and that is not an option for us. Friends in other states have had it prescribed by their normal OB so I don't understand why the practice in Washington is so different. Can you help?

Hi Mamas!

I have a 19 month old daughter and just found out we are expecting TWINS in February! Two babies changes the game on a lot of things, one of them being childcare options. I am looking for any feedback on what other pay for care of multiples!

Here is our current situation:

We have a nanny for our daughter for $18 per hour, which equates to $720 per week for 40 hours. That translates about $38,000 per year! Our previous nanny charged $15 per hour, but I had her for 45 hours and paid her time and a half for the five "overtime" hours so it was still about $700 per week. My husband thinks that we are overpaying, but minimum wage in Seattle is $15 and I could not find anyone for less!! When I research online it looks like nanny care for three kids would be somewhere around $23 per hour, or $920 per week and $47,000 per year.

Daycare does not look any better, with infant daycare care in Seattle (we live in Greenlake and I work on Queen Anne) coming in at $2,100 to $2,400 per month and care for a two year old coming in at $1,700 to $2,000 per month. That puts the low end for all three at $5,900 per month or $70,000 per year.

Is this what other families are paying?

Thank you!!

We just received information last week that our FET from a December has not been successful. As emotionally stressful as it is, we always knew that it could go either way; We do have to figure out next steps now so reaching out for info.

We are in the Seattle area and are currently with Pacific Northwest Fertility (Dr.Shahine) & SRM is certainly not an option for us as we need a clinic that is little more specialized and will work to our timeline (imposed due to other serious medical conditions) and is not into batching transfers and retrievals.

I will be 37 soon & my husband is on dialysis, so we will be doing IVF/ICSI with CCS/PGS testing. We also have produced higher than usual (for our age) chromosomally abnormal embryos (83.33% of aneuploid embryos). I supposedly had a great lining for the FET but still didn't work.

So, the options we were looking into are CCRM in Colorado or Oregon Reproductive Medicine in Portland or staying with PNWF in Seattle.

If you anyone here has experience with either clinics and would be willing to share, you have my gratitude. Also, any doctor recommendations within these clinics are also very appreciated.
TIA!

I have two kids and one on the way and I'm trying to figure out a reasonable hourly rate for a part time nanny over the summer. I work from home, so I will be here while the nanny is here and plan to pop out of my office to nurse the baby. My kids will be 7, 4.5 and 4 months when the nanny starts. So, two potty trained and fairly easygoing kids and one newborn. We live on acreage far from the road with a lot of safe play areas outside, so I would expect she would stay here and play all day and not be driving them anywhere. Basic tasks would be just entertainment and meal prep and maybe some light cleanup - like dishes after lunch. I was thinking $17-$20 an hour, but that is kind of a shot in the dark. The 7 year old will not always be here, as he will be doing some summer camps. What do you pay your snohomish county nanny?

Hello all! I wanted to introduce myself, as it is time for me to make some new "mom" friends. Another expecting friend of mine said that the bump boards were really helpful for her when she wanted to chat with people and they also helped her meet folks in real life. I'm expecting our first, so I'd love to meet others in this area as well! I posted this on the month board too.

My name is Kate and this is our first. We were married in July and conceived in August while on clomid. I was surprised, since I was pregnant before with my ex and it was difficult to conceive due to endometriosis and we ended up miscarrying that pregnancy.

We are now 21 weeks pregnant and due @May 25. It's a boy and our 20 week scan was all positive. I'm not working at the moment, but I wish I were, since I miss it a lot. We live in Sammamish and I am 36 yo.

Look forward to chatting with everyone and meeting folks!
-Kate and (in utero nickname) Moxie

Hi Ladies -

I'm due March 2016. I work in Seattle but am planning to deliver in Tacoma General. DH and I were recently talking logistics of what happens when I go into labor. Who do we call to pick up our daughter, etc. The main question we haven't found an answer for yet is what if I'm at work in Seattle when I go into labor? I take the Sounder to work daily so I don't have a car here in the city. We can't call an ambulance because they'll take you to the nearest hospital.

Would you be comfortable calling an Uber if you were in labor? My husband works in Auburn so it's not realistic for him to come to Seattle, pick me up then drive back down to Tacoma. What other suggestions do you have? For some reason, nothing is sounding realistic right now.
