A lot of us are finding out whether we are having boys or girls and even though this is an awesome and exciting time, there are bound to be some minor and fleeting feelings of disappointment either way. For instance, all my life I was super excited to have kids and always imagined being a boy mom. I always wanted sons. Over time I decided a pair of brothers or both a boy and a girl would be my ideal combination. I never got excited at the thought of all girls.
But then when I got pregnant I changed. I fell in love with the idea of a little girl. Especially since my parents already have a grandson but no grandaughter, and all my friends have little girls so she'd have easy playmates.
And just as I fell in love with having a girl, I get a call that it's a boy, lol! I was instantly excited and happy, but throughout the day I felt little pangs of disappointment over the things I had been looking forward to with a daughter.

Anyway, I looked up a list of why boys are awesome and I quickly got over it. For all you mamas expecting boys out there, lets share reasons they are awesome because I'm getting super pumped about having a son to raise!
Hopefully someone expecting a girl will start a similar thread.

I'll get us started with some basic ones:
1. Miniature old man clothes. I can't be the only one looking forward to putting my kid in a tiny sweater vest and bow tie.
2. Diapering is easier. I won't have to deal with the constant fear of wiping the wrong way on a bleary-eyed late night diaper change or not cleaning thoroughly enough because boys are not as prone to UTI's.

Yes, it's way too early for this discussion, but I CANNOT contain my excitement to wear maternity jeans again!!! I waited until I was probably 18 weeks before I started wearing them last time. That was stupid. I will be wearing them the second my regular clothes get at all tight because they are so damn comfy.

Share your favorite brands, where you bought them, etc. If you need special items (like scrubs), share that, too.

I LOVED Jessica Simpson's maternity line. Those jeans were the real MVP of my pregnancy last time.

I have a grown up job this time that requires me to wear suits fairly regularly. Any suggestions?

hi all. I've been on this board for a while now that this is my first post. I found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks. we were so excited seeing the ultrasound and hearing the heartbeat. we couldn't wait for the first trimester screening visit (scheduled for my 12th week). I asked for an ultrasound because of my age and I am just extra nervous. I haven't been having morning sickness and was cautiously optimistic (I felt like if I was having morning sickness at least I know something is going on down there). anyway, I get an ultrasound, and can tell immediately something is wrong. the midwife can't find the baby. she calls in a doctor and she is also having trouble. she thinks she found it and can detect a heartbeat, but is still concerned because the size is not what it should be for a 12th week pregnancy (at 7 weeks the fetus measured a little bit bigger than average). so i'm going in again today for an ultrasound with a radiologist. I'm nervous. things seemed to be going smooth and then this. I still feel light cramps like my period is about to start, but I see this as a positive sign that my body is still preparing for the baby. I guess i'm posting this to see if anyone has had the same thing happen to where you couldn't see the baby during an ultrasound. I was told it was not totally uncommon (my cousin who is a pediatrician said it is possible I have scar tissue from my surgery for fibroids that is hiding the baby. and a coworker o f my husband's said they had it happen a couple of times with their twins, but that they now have two healthy children. so I am hoping and praying for the best as we go tot he appointment today.

Hello ladies! I am 26 years old and 11 weeks 1 day pregnant with my third child. I have an 8 year old daughter and two year old son who is autistic. This pregnancy was an “oops” and all I’ve been doing is stressing. I have my ultrasound and genetic testing next week and then will find out the sex a week later. I really want another girl and pretty terrified if I’m told I’m having a boy. Studies have shown that after having a child who is autistic if you have another child and it is a boy chances are higher that the child will have autism as well. I’ve been married for 3 years and let’s face it, it hasn’t been a fairytale. My husband is in denial about our son and makes life harder for me. Anyone else have a child who’s autistic or more than one? Hope to meet some amazing moms!

Hello!! Haven’t been on here since my last babe!! And I always liked getting info from other mom’s who have a clue what’s going on. Ha!!

So at 7 weeks I started bleeding, and had an ultra sound the following day and a second one at 8 weeks. The ultra sounds showed a hemorrhage from the implantation site that was the same size as baby’s gestational sac. I was put on bed rest and told that I would more than likely miscarry. A lot of the time the hemorrhage in the second trimester will occur where the placenta attaches, but mine is in my lower left uterus, where the placenta has attached on the upper right.
But here I am, almost in my second trimester and the clot is no where near the placenta.. I went for another ultra sound the day before 13 weeks and baby is growing fine, and has a healthy heartbeat. The hemorrhage is now ‘small to moderate’ which means 20%-50% of the gestational sac.. such a huge variance.. since the tech would not give me any information this time around(had a dr with the ultra sounds at week 7&8) I’m not quite sure how big it is.
So I’m just wondering if any mama’s have been through this, having such a large hemorrhage that hasn’t dissipated within a few weeks and has lasted through to the second trimester?
im usually a very physically active person and was planning on working throughout my pregnancy, however this hemorrhage means NO GYM and NO WORK(I worked in a hotel restaurant and am in school to be an electrician) Also, I have a 3 year old little boy who doesn’t understand that mommy can’t play rough(we love horsing around and play fighting... little boys and their ninjas haha) He does understand that there’s a baby!! And asks to see my belly everyday, which melts my heart!! But 3 year olds can be quite the handful, and it’s been a rough couple months... and I’m looking for a light at the end of a tunnel, preferably before our little peanut is in our arms.

Dh and I are debating on which, if any, tests to get done. Insurance won't cover any. We haven't met our deductible and they never cover the harmony test offered by my ob office. Would love to hear other opinions. We never did any with our first 2 because it wouldn't change what we would do.

Hi ladies! I was thinking I'd add in a little old wives superstition forum so we can compare results.
Apparently a lower heartbeat (110-140) is supposed to indicate a male and a high heartbeat (140 - 170) indicates female.
If you've found out the baby's gender already, has it followed this superstition??!
Interested to hear your responses.
Although I don't know my baby's gender yet, heartbeat has fluctuated from 151 - 155 bpm throughout this past week.
