How many of you are still using the nipple shield and where do you store the darn thing for easy access? We will be using it for the long haul as DD can't seem to latch without it thanks to my flat nipples. I think I would enjoy BF so much more if I didn't need to go search for my shield every time she was hungry. And who decided to make the stupid thing clear?! It's impossible to find if I drop it on the floor or if it falls off at night. But don't worry if I can't find it the dog will! I'm inventing one that glows in the dark or comes in a bright color.

I want to hear about other people's experiences with Mirena so far. Getting Mirena was not an easy decision for me, but it seems like my best option. I feel like I will be regretting getting it unless I have some sort of support group for it.

I just had it placed 3 days ago. Mine didn't hurt going in, but when I stood up I felt it inside of me and it hurt when I shifted to one side. I walked around in the room until I felt comfortable that it was in right. I had cramping for the rest of the day and was fatigued. I only bled for one day afterwards and have been sore. I felt pretty good yesterday and it had been over 48 hours, so my husband and I had sex last night. It didn't feel very good. I woke up in the middle of the night having stomach cramps/bloating. I feel better now so I'm thinking the stomach cramps were from the glass of champagne I had last night. I'm going to check for the strings when I'm feeling a little braver.

How has everybody else's experience been so far?

DD appears to enjoy the pacifier and it does soothe her but she has zero ability to hold it in her mouth by herself. She doesn't spit it out, it usually just falls out or her tongue moving around pushes it out. I like the fact that she is calmed and soothed by it but don't really see myself holding it in her mouth too much longer in the future. So my question is whether holding it in her mouth herself is something she can still grow into/learn or are we pretty much past that point? She is 3 mo. TIA!

I've heard that babies have an internal clock in terms of wake up time. I'm just curious when everyone's LO's are getting up. Has anyone had any success in shifting their baby's wake up time??

My DS was getting up at 6am pretty consistently but the last few days has shifted himself to 5am *mom sobs*. I would love advice on shifting this later.

He's also resisting early bedtime. We were consistently doing 7pm and then he suddenly started refusing. He will go down at 7 and then be awake by 8. I nurse him and then he will go down for the night after a few tears. We haven't changed anything in our daily routine and he naps 4x a day and I encourage hour and a half to 2 hour long naps. He usually naps in my arms because otherwise he will wake up after 20 minutes.

Help!!! I'm so tired...5am is much too early for me!!!

I also write down how much she weighs and some things she likes, etc. I don't even know if this question will make sense, but when do you record milestones? For the previous month or the upcoming month? For example, I take her 2 month picture when she's about 8 weeks. I wrote all of her milestones from previous month. Later in the month she rolls over at 10 weeks. So she's technically 2 months when she rolls over but then do I record it when I take her 3 month picture? Seems so simple but I'm confused.

I've been putting it off as long as I can, but I have to bite the bullet and go this weekend. LO will be 11 weeks. I'd like to try and dip her feet in the water, but other than that I'll be keeping her in the shade with her sun hat, etc. I'd still like to sunscreen her but wasn't sure if that was recommended yet?

Has anyone:
Used sunscreen on an 11 week old or younger?
If so, brand?
Dipped baby in a pool?
How did it go?

I'm so far outside of my comfort zone with this... never investigated because I was hoping not to be faced with it for a while (and I'm a really laid back parent!).

Thanks so much!

Poor girl was an IUGR baby and has gone through a lot. They called her an alien and other mean names. As much as I know these people are ignorant idiots (there is a reason why her dad & I have custody), I can't help feeling really hurt and angry on my LO's behalf! And it makes me terrified for the future when I'm sure she and/or her brother will encounter ridicule from others - it's just a fact of life.
So my LC and the web says that you should take frequent breaks while bottle feeding. We would take breaks every oz or so and would burp halfway between feedings but now my LO refuses to take a bottle once I take a break. So I've been trying to feed her the full 4-5 oz and let her take her little micro-breaks with the nipple still in her mouth. How does everyone else bottle feed? I believe the reason why they want the baby to take frequent breaks is to avoid over-feeding? But now if I take a break at 1 oz, she will refuse the nipple and I have to wait FOREVER for her to want to eat again. And this is after hours of not eating so she definitely needs to eat. If I don't take any breaks, she will finish the entire 4 oz. Its driving me crazy.

It makes me feel sad that he feels this way but I don't know how to tell him it's because I spend all day with him and he knows me. I really want to say "you need to spend more time with him" but I don't want it to come off as he never spends time with him, because he does. Anyone else's SOs feel this way?
Hi all! We started a bed time routine a few weeks back for my 13 wo twins. So far it's been great! We get about 7-8 hours on the first stretch & 3-4 on the second. I read all the posts promoting earlier bed times so we start at 8pm. This then puts us up at 3 or 4 for a feeding. DH is asking since we are still up at 10pm, why not start then so that our next feeding falls at a reasonable hour like 5 or 6 when he gets up for work anyway. Other than the fact that I like a few baby-free hours with DH at night, I'm not sure what to tell him. Remind me why an earlier bedtime is better? TIA!

Sorry if this has already been posted, I can't remember. Does anyone else's LO cry the second they stop eating? My DS cries almost immediately after he finishes eating practically every time. I'm EBF and I offer again after burping. He will latch for another minute usually and then pull off. But then sometimes he will go for another 5 minutes (he's a fast nurser - usually only 5 minutes).

He calms down as soon as I put him on the change table or in the crib and then he's smiley immediately. I feel bad because I never know if he's crying because of gas, that he's full, or still hungry!!! So I keep offering food and burping until I get frustrated and just lay him down. And then he's happy as can be!!! Sigh. Anyone else?
