When do you plan to (or when did you) tell your children that you're pregnant? I have a 4 1/2 year old and I'm afraid of telling him too early because it would be hard to explain if something were to happen. I'm thinking of maybe waiting until 2nd tri, but I don't know.

I've been spotting since last Monday and over the weekend it picked up. No cramping really. This morning it turned bright red so I called my doctor who got me in. He was away last week so I saw a nurse who said it was implantation bleeding. He did an exam and saw a lot of blood and sent me to get a sono. In the waiting room I cried anticipating the worst. In the few weeks that I have carried my little I have day dreamed about holding a newborn again, my children growing up together, all of the fun family vacations, and heck I've even started crocheting baby blankets. Then I felt guilty. I have friends who have never been able to conceive, who have had this happen more then once, and I was staring at my 8 month old practicing his walking skills in the waiting room. They called me back and the rudest tech ever asked me a bunch of questions before checking for a heartbeat. She told me to stop breathing a few times and she couldn't pick anything up. Then she found the heartbeat and it was a strong 144. My little has grown quite a bit since last week and is still on track. Went back to the doctor to find out why I was bleeding and he said its a sub-chronic hematoma. I have a 50% chance of a miscarriage. This may be one of the hardest things I've ever had to face. I have to take progesterone and I'm trying to be hopeful.

**** Update****
So we went to the doctor for our weekly check up and I feel so discouraged. I'm not bleeding heavy, but its picked up over the last few days with bright red bleeding some days and brown bleeding the other. The doctor said there is nothing he can do besides pray for me and hope for the best. He said he would be happy if I made it to week 12 because the possibility of miscarriage is low. The baby's heartbeat was a strong 156 and its growing on time. But my yolk sac is measuring 6 weeks 2 days instead of the 8 weeks that I am. Looking at the sonogram, he said he saw a pool of blood near the placenta but didn't understand why I was bleeding bright red and it could have something to do with the yolk sac. I took that to mean that my SCH wasn't as big. I don't know why I didn't ask him. We go back in a week and hopefully see better results. Continued thoughts and prayers please!!

So I know we are all awhile away from this - but I read an interesting article and it got me thinking about couples' registry preferences. So curious about your opinions

If you know that you really don't want certain items, it is rude to, in a polite way, explain you would prefer using only X's brands products etc. Or do you think whatever people are nice enough to get you is great and perhaps just return/donate everything you don't want/intend to use. Obviously I am sure many would just be thankful for others' generosity, but thought it was an interesting topic.

ETA: I am NOT saying I plan/want to do this - just thought it was an interesting topic for discussion haha

Has anyone been told to not do ab work during pregnancy?
I made it to the gym today (and managed not to throw up on anything there!), and my trainer said he's going to stop doing specific ab work with me, although my core will still be somewhat strengthened by the standing and compound exercises I'll be doing. I had been using a handful of different ab machines twice a week, never any regular crunches or sit-ups.
My doc didn't mention it as something to stop, although she listed a number of other things (biking, standup paddleboarding, climbing, etc) I do need to stop doing.

I am already showing more with this baby than i did with my son for my first pregnancy. I am sure its normal but because you can already tell a difference in my body I'm not sure when i should make it public. We told my family and my inlaws too and some close friends. I feel its not as much a big deal to wait to tell with your second the way we did with our first. But i guess i am just wondering to all you second or more time moms when did you make the public announcement?

*Losses Mentioned*

I had my 8 week appointment last week, and there was no baby, fetal pole, or yolk sac. I was kind of suspecting it because the week before my symptoms had started to vanish. Doctor said it was a blighted ovum -- it stopped growing around 6 weeks, but since our first appointment wasn't until 8 weeks, we didn't know. This is our second time being pregnant and second loss, after about a year of trying. We are devastated of course, but trying to stay hopeful about our first visit with a fertility specialist in September.

I am so happy for all of you though, and I'll probably stop in from time to time to lurk a little. Seeing your happy posts and US pic gives me hope that miracles are possible and that ours will happen eventually. Love to you all!

Has anyone else experienced this? She told me it was something they weren't too concerned about since after 10000 they don't go off of hcg levels anymore and it was only a small drop. I just thought that with twins it would be super high. I've had a miscarriage with my last pregnancy so I've been preparing myself for the worst. I just also find it odd it was such a small drop within three days I thought it would much more significant. Thoughts?
I am just wondering what is the difference between the two? I know one they go inside and one is just done on your abdomen but besides that is there any difference? I feel like the ones I've seen that are abdominal are less vivid and clear. I'm just afraid they'll do abdominal and I won't get a clear picture of my baby! Anyone know if you can request one over the other? Sorry for all the questions!

so I'm on day 10 of spotting. It's nothing heavy but my GP wants me to get blood tests every three days... What are those called again? Are those the hcg tests or beta? I don't know the terms. Good news is that I'll be getting an earlier ultrasound.

Doctor said I had a 50/50 chance of keeping the baby though. I'm still nauseas, so I'm hopeful.

anyone else here have spotting but a healthy pregnancy? I've never had spotting or miscarriage so I have no clue what to think. Cross your fingers or pray for me if you can please

UPDATE: you guys are STUCK WITH ME, muahaha!
Alright I need a little help here. My regular work pants are getting a little tight from the bloating/slowly growing belly. I'm looking for some maternity pants, but looking online, they look like they might be a little TOO much just yet.
Moms, what were your experiences buying some maternity clothes? When did you find you really needed them?

I posted this information on the birth plan board but I figured a new thread would be a good idea and might reach more mamas that might be interested in the materials.

I'm just going to copy what I had written directly below but I did want to add that you should do your research. Each birthing method has its differences. I got wrapped around word choice during labor in hindsight that's TOTALLY my personality too. The finger drop method of hypnobabies works. It takes a lot of practice but it works.

My comments are just my experience. I LOVED doing hypnobirthing babies during pregnancy. My husband and i connected doing it. It helped me sleep and relax overall.

Even if you don't do hypnobabies at all I HIGHLY SUGGEST EVERY mama listen to - pregnancy affirmations. It was amazing to listen to such positive words on my drive to work! I really needed to hear some of those things (ie when dealing with MIL drama questioning my birth plan)

In addition to the pregnancy affirmations there are other good materials in the folder I shared. Ie sample cheat sheets for your birth partners. Meaning an outline of reminders of how they can help you (bc all logic goes out the window when a woman is screaming!! Lol)

Lastly I want to point out that I'm sure the owners of hypnobabies would frown upon me sharing these materials (they cost good $$) So please keep to yourself. Don't share my personal information with anyone outside this group. I will take this public link down closer to the end of our time together on Tb.

(Below from Birth Plan Board)

I'm sure you've done your research but I did hypnobabies last time and will be doing hypnobirthing this time.

I went to the hypnobabies classes and practiced religiously but it was really hard for me to use during labor.

I talked to my doula after (also mother of 4 who has used both) and she said it best -

Hypno babies tells you in the track "you're now feeling....."

Where in hypnobirthing the track will suggest "try to allow yourself to feel"

She hit the nail on the head for me!! During my last labor using hypnobabies I never felt I was where the track was telling me I should and just ended up with them off. So I'm really excited to use hypnobirthing this time.

Doesn't mean it's for you but thought I'd share! :-)

On another note I LOVE your plan. I'm trying for a water birth round two. Last time we had meconium in the fluid and had to go to the hospital. While I was disappointed I remained flexible enough that it was okay and the hospital staff was amazing... the monitors however enourage me to try again lol!!!

So I did an in person class for the hypnobabies. The woman that first introduced me to hypnobirthing though did it on her own by getting the materials online, and doing homestudy. She RAVED about it. This is also likely my plan bc while I would love to take a class I don't think I'd be able to have weekly childcare for my son.

Anyway...

The only real advice I can give is you REALLY have to commit to almost daily practice. It's a lot more time consuming than I had anticipated.

Next post.....

I went ahead and organized them as follows:

1. Scripts - this is the main book

2. Birth partner guide - this is the quick ref booklet and partner guide

3. Tracks - the actual mp3's

4. A couple cheat sheets for your birth partners

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2hKPF2NMrnrdjZsTi1KbjgyaUU

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or issues accessing the materials. Direct email is best (as I don't consistently get notifications on TB) tabitha831@gmail.com.
