2 days ago dd fell and landed on the corner of a low book case on her eye, yesterday she scraped up her face throwing a tantrum, today she fell over a chair and busted her lip! Good thing I wasn't planning on having any photos taken soon. I think daycare is starting to think I'm upset about it but she is just as clumsy at home! Hopefully she gains some better balance quickly.

I had no idea until one of my co-workers lost her son to it the other week. They buried him last weekend, the day before his 9th birthday...

Even though it's classed as rare there were a tonne of messages from parents with PWS kids who left messages of condolence on an online memorial book for him.

Not trying to bum anyone out, just figured if you didn't know anything about this either it never hurts to learn something new... or remember that your problems could be a lot worse.

It also serves as a reminder not to judge an overweight kid because it might not just be laziness or bad diet... and I'm sure we are all guilty of judging other parents/people now and then.

We are moving across the country in 3 weeks. We found a great house to rent - perfect size, perfect location, great backyard, .5 miles from a playground, 3 miles from a pool, perfect price - we paid a deposit two weeks ago and thought it was being held for us (DH is flying out there on Sunday and he was going to sign the lease when he got there). Well, we got a call today telling us that the owner was selling it to somebody instead of renting it to us.

I understand from their perspective and I realize that we didn't have anything official, but it still really sucks. And there's nothing else comparable available and moving day is speeding towards us and now we have nowhere to live!

Ack! I'm freaking out!

decided to goto the park and walmart after work.. figured we could use some fun family time... till some #@%#%@# rear ended us on the way home. luckily traffic was still heavy so she wasn't going TOO fast.. but she still tapped us pretty hard and set the lil man off crying unconsolably for a good half hour. We were at a complete stop when she hit us so it was totally unexpected.

He seems fine now and the fireman/paramedic told us to keep an eye on him for any unusual behavior, but that we had a really good seat and he should be fine. He said it wasn't enough of a collison to compromise the seat and that he was just probably scared by the bang and sudden movement. I checked the Britax site and it seems they consider it a minor incident and no loss of integrity to the seat safety, which was my main concern after making sure the munchkin was ok. I would hate to have him in a more serious accident with a dodgy seat.

She didnt even ask if he was ok when she was stood next to our car, I guess I should be greatful she has insurance. The last one who hit hubby didnt, even tho he had an insurance card he had renewed and lapsed so we had to foot the excess of our uninsured motorist coverage... and they knew all his details and still couldnt recover the costs.

Would you believe she told hubby and the police she couldn't hit the break because of her shoes.. WTF.. lady keep some flats in your damned car if you can't drive safely in heels.

We got him home and settled while we watched him to see if he was reacting as usual.. he got to play with his new $6 golf clubs form Walmart, had a snack and a bath and then we went for a quick car ride to see how he would react to being back in his car seat, he was so unhappy in it earlier ...

... it went fine and he is now snoozin in his crib. He has a pedi appt on friday so I'll have them check him over anyway, but so far he seems fine and just a bit rattled by it all and we didn't ewant to drag him in for a checkup and stress him out more unless something seemed amiss.

Momma needs a shot or three

at Walmart before all this happened.. Munchkin was shouting for his daddy who was hiding round a corner playing peekaboo..and shouted SILLY DADDY... mad emy day. he has been trying to say silly for a few weeks because we call one of our cats Silly Willy.

Last night he tried to feed himself yoghurt with a spoon.. it was a mess but he actually did manage to get some of it in his mouth lol... so we picked up some new spoons and forks for him tonight too...

I have discovered that nothing and I mean NOTHING that is designed with a suction cup can compete against my little brutus. he rips his bath toys off the tub in one fowl swoop.. rips toys off his high chair tray just as easily and the new feeding bowls.. might as well have no suction cups at all lol. I am seriously contemplating welding stuff to that damn tray haha.

He has discovered the joys of showers this week too.. I get in with him and kneel down and hold him while he takes a shower...and he has a blast. He still loves his baths but is totally loving showers too. He started shouting Bat Bath baaa tonight while his dad ran his bath.. so cute.

Not so much fun is the learning to climb on the sofa trick and then thinking he can just walk off it.. like he will somehow levetate when he reaches the edge

he has learned to poke poke and point, and shoves his finger up his nose when you say shhhhhush if he is being noisy ... he's trying to put it under his nose on his lips to imitate us, but it usually ends up alongside his nose or up one nostril.. too frickin funny.

We have all 4 molars now not completely through but they are all there.. the last one was a Bi@tch and took it's sweet time.

And he finally got vaguely sick.. 14 months of not so much as a diaper rash and then he caught a cough from daddy... nothing to get attention over and it's pretty much cured itself without the need for meds.

I think the highly eratic weather changes here were partly to blame. The humidifier got a work out since the weather started to heat up and I think that helped. Mommy however felt like she was dying last weekend and is still coughing... I knew I shoulda done those keigels I haven't worried this much about coughing since I was pregnant lol.

How many of you have signed your LOs up on preschool waiting lists?

I was talking to a mom friend of mine last week (who has a 3yo and a son two months younger than DS) and she was talking about how she'd already signed her youngest up on the waiting list for her preferred pre-school. I was so surprised...it honestly hadn't even crossed my mind until she mentioned it! I feel super behind and I'm hoping there are some of you who haven't visited preschools yet either, because then I wouldn't feel like such a lousy mom. We live in a small town so there are only a handful of decent preschools and I would feel terrible if DS couldn't go to one because I dropped the ball.

I'm definitely going to call the Montessori preschool next week and schedule a visit!

I would highly suggest not taking your child to Verizon when you go to switch cell phone providers and are going to be there for around an hour. DS happily ate a little snack and let me hold him for the first 15 mins, then he wanted to walk/run around the store but of course screamed whenever I tried to make him hold my hand. This resulted in me having to hold him against his will for roughly 30 mins (he weighs 25lbs and my arms were dyyyyying) while he tried to flail out of my arms and generally caused a scene. Thankfully the associate who was helping me was very nice and understanding, but I'm sure he was happy to see us leave lol. I swear on my life I will NEVER do that again as long as I live. Lesson learned.

Have you taken your LO somewhere and regretted it? I also took him to tour a local gym and discuss membership a month or so ago and that was another mistake.

On the DH wants to go to Australia post.
I told DH that I loved his idea but wouldn't be able to enjoy myself being on the other side of the world from my baby. I asked if we could save Australia for our 10 year anniversary and go somewhere closer to home this year. He was disappointed but understood. After sulking a little bit we talke about other places to go and I think we've settled on Hawaii! I've been once 15 years ago but DH has never been. I'm actually excited about this option!
Thanks again for all your replies to my original post. It helped to hear all your perspectives!

Anyone else dealing with this? How do you do it?

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, DS has been glued to me! I am not exaggerating, he fights, screams, throws himself, if I put him down, leave the room, don't let him sleep on me. Surprisingly, he is completely fine when we drop him off at daycare, he doesn't cry or anything. He goes with teacher and plays with kids.

But when we are home...it's a nightmare! He's not falling asleep on his own in crib anymore. He wants to literally be on me..even if he falls asleep on my shoulder, second I put him down, tantrum begins. I can't get ready, clean, cook, go to bathroom...nothing without him having a fit because I am not carrying him. And honestly I just can't carry him all the time, even thought he is a peanut, it's tiring. And I don't want him to get used to be carried all the time either.

What do you all do? Do you just let LO cry? I don't even know how to handle this, he's never been like this before. Within the past month it feels like he's getting worst!

TIA

So.... DH and I have started TTC again. Last month was the first full month I was off bc. I have always been super regular. Well, I was not so regular in April (actually started my period twice last month but was nothing major, only for like half a day each). Tested, but all BFN. So along comes May. My start date would typically be around the 11th-14th. I have yet to start (did have cramping on Saturday for a few hrs, but no AF), yet still BFN. I'm going crazy!! Could I just get my freaking period already so I can start over? I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ovulate this month without ever getting my period. Kind of frustrating and super confusing, like my body is working against me or that there's something else going on.

End vent. Sorry ladies, I want to keep this sort of stuff off fb and needed to just get it out!

So I have discovered that being the mom to a toddler is way more exhausting than being the mom to a newborn. Different exhaustion for sure.

Then you add in a morning like this.

4:30am: DH's alarm clock goes off. He hits snooze a couple times and gets up at like 5:05.

5:10/15: DH comes to tell me he can't get the TV to turn on. I come out
and push the button on the DISH box. Ta-da! Go back to bed. DD starts
fussing. DH takes care of it.

5:45: DH brings DD to me because she won't calm down anymore. She refuses to go back to sleep. Wants to play. We get up at 5:55.

She usually wakes up at 7 so this was a very early morning. When I'm used to waking up at that time, no problem. But I'm not used to it so I'm like the walking dead right now.

Has anyone successfully gotten an early riser to sleep a little later?

DS used to sleep until 7:30 or 8 on days that I didn't work, including weekends. I work 2-3 days a week and on those days I have to wake him up at 6 so we can be out the door on time. In the last couple of weeks, he has been waking up earlier and earlier, to the point that he's now waking up between 6 and 6:30 every day. I know he's still tired and he's been cranky during the stretch from waking up to his first nap (I actually put him down a half hour early yesterday because he was so tired, whiny, cranky, etc.) but when he first wakes up in the morning he's wide awake, happy and has no interest in going back to sleep. We co-sleep for part of the night, so he's in our bed in the morning, therefore it's not really an option to just let him play in his crib (and putting in his crib to play just results in screaming).

He takes 2 naps during the day and they are an hour to an hour and a half each (so he gets 2 1/2 to 3 hours of sleep during the day) and typically goes to sleep around 8:30. Last night, as an experiment, I tried putting him to bed a little later but he still was wide awake at 6:15.

Any suggestions?

My munchkin has a red nostril ..it just appeared this afternoon. doesn't seem to be bothering him but he has had a crusty/stuffy nose the last couple of days. He just broke #2 & 3 molars in the last week or so and #4 is so close to erupting but is being stubborn.

Not sure if it's the change in weather since it's getting hot here already. Pretty sure he hasn't banged his nose.. it looks angry but no obvious marks to indicate a finger up nose injury or bang on it. (always possible, he had a nose a bit like this before from face planting... but it was scraped up too) and it's only on one nostril. He's not had a runy nose or runny eyes and is otherwise perfectly fine, just a bit clingy and grumpy at times which is normal when he is teething.

He's eating and drinking fine, no new foods to be allergic to... and diaper duties are normal.

He was a bit congested in his nose the last couple of nights which seemed to make him restless.. but bless his heart he somewhow figure out how to snort air out of his nose and dislodged those suckers himself .. last night he used momma's bare shoulder during a cuddle to dislodge some nice sticky big boogers.. yay you can tell you are a mommy when you are happy your kid got rid of his boogers ..even if its on you

I don't suffer from allergies, DH did a bit but has it under control without medications ... but Texas is known for giving you allergies even if you never had them before.

Anyone else had anything like this ?
