The allergist had a cancellation so we got squeezed in. She did a skin test and Kelsey is allergic to egg and salmon. Add that to DD1's gluten and dairy intolerances we have some tricky feeding here! Hopefully eliminating those foods will clear up or drastically improve her rashes.

-->SO my daughter isn't walking unassisted yet. She can cruise all over the place and pushes her walker or anything else she can find all over the house. We've seen progression with her like letting go of things to stand on her own. The time has progressed longer and longer over a period of weeks. She's also been able to pick up a large ball while standing with it over her head, then falls on her butt. She does tip toe walk most of the time. Only when waking, she is capable to standing flat footed. Today was her 15 month appointment and her pedi said her cut off is 16 months if she isn't walking on her own to get her evaluated by neurologist. Then she asked me about what protein she is taking that she needs muscle tone. This seems crazy to me. She eats very well and eats lots of protein. She has strong legs otherwise she wouldn't be able to push the things around she does. Just this morning she climbed onto the side of the pack n play so she could try and get in.

I mentioned to the pedi I thought the range of normal was to 18 months. She sorta laughed and mentioned me googleing and said her cut off was 16 months. Seems extreme to me to take her to that kind of specialist and I doubt my insurance would cover it. I really don't want to take her. I would if I wasn't seeing a stready progression but we are. Has anyone had to have their lo evaluated? Who did you take them do & what was done?

Also told her I think she is focused on talking more than walking. She knows over 40 words and around 30 signs. She very smart even knowing two shapes and 3 different colors.

Hate how the doctor's office can make you start having doubt.

I am so going with the sock's and Tie's rule for the future!! He is totally HIT n Miss on gift giving. Thank you for the great laugh.

**Father's Day was a huge hit. The XM Radio blew him away. We spent the day at the everglades, did airboat rides and BBQ'd. ALL day our big joke was about how great this father's day was and how crappy my mothers day was! It was hilarious. Needless to say. He promised i would be getting a Do-Over and it was just a great family day ***

Saturday, I have a massage and manicure followed by dinner with DH at a nice steak place in town. DH got me a pair of shoes I've had my eye on for a long time. He finally got smart and checked Pinterest!

30 isn't too bad! Hope everyone else enjoyed their June 11th!

Slowly, slowly, DS is learning to STTN. Last night he slept for over 8 HOURS STRAIGHT!! He has never slept this long before.

We have been sleep training him since just before his first birthday and it's been 2 steps forward, 1 step back so I am not at all expecting him to sleep that long every night. But we have made such great improvement. Many nights he has slept 6 hours without waking. When we started he was waking every 45 min to 3 hours. We're getting there!

I am just so excited, proud of him, and proud of DH and I for working together and sticking with it. It has been really hard on all of us, but so worth it!

Thanks for letting me AW.

So last year I saw a ball of light on the baby monitor, twice. Everyone kind of side eyes me and said it was probably dust. Whatever, I knew what I saw. Last night DH was upstairs and the kids and I were in the family room. I always record DS throughout the day, he is a ham. So as I'm recording this perfect circle of light came through the door and flew right toward me. I actually captured it in the video! I'm sure some of you will think I'm a whack, but I had to share.

Grandma has been trying to teach her the motions for a while now and it was soooo cute to see her actually do it. What other songs do you sing that has motions that go with it?

I'm a middle school teacher. After DS was born, I went back to work part time, which means I teach every other day. So some weeks, that means M/W/F, others T/Th. My parents watch DS 1-2 days a week and we found a wonderful, flexible daycare through one of my coworkers who watches him 1-2 days a week (depending on how many days I work that week and what my parents' schedule is like). The woman is super sweet, works with my schedule and is fantastic with DS who is a little on the high maintenance side. He still has mini-meltdowns most days when I drop him off (he's been going to her since August) but settles down quickly.

For several reasons, DH and I decided that when we both go back to work in the fall we wanted to send DS to daycare 2 days a week and only use my parents' occasionally. When I talked to my daycare lady about this, she told me that there's a possibility that she wouldn't have a spot for DS come October because if she's offered a full time baby, she would take him/her, rather than keeping DS part time. He's still considered an infant until he's 2 in February, at which point she would have a space for him, but there's the span of Oct to Feb where she wouldn't necessarily have a spot for him.

It's all speculation at this point, because she doesn't have anyone interested at the moment, but I'm really stressed about this. We're paying for him to go one day a week over the summer to keep him used to going, and to hold his spot, but I feel like it's pointless to hold a spot that may or may not still be there in October. I can't run the risk of being without care in October either. But I don't want to go through the whole routine of finding a new daycare, moving DS, getting him adjusted, etc. on the off chance that she may have someone interested in full time care.

WWYD?

Check your library to see if they have a summer reading program that your dcs can participate in. Our local library's program starts at birth. I looked at the requirements and they are mostly things we already do... read a book, let dd turn pages, sing abcs, talk about what we see on a walk, etc. It will be easy to meet the requirements and I can tell dd she did a summer reading program at 1 yo! How fun There are "prizes" but I doubt it will be much that interests dd.

I can't help myself. I have become a baby carrying contraption fiend! We have a Uppa Vista that I adore!! We got lucky and paid about half price for the old season model a few mos before dd was born. I thought it was perfect and am still in love with it, but then I got a ring sling then we got an ergo, then we got a UB g luxe for airplane travel, then we got a red wagon and I just ordered a hiking backpack (Osprey Poco Plus) and I really want a Chariot Cougar 2 bike trailer/jogger. I have a problem. We actually do use them all except the ring sling. My 2 car garage is half full of baby carriers! Please tell me I am not alone.

Have any of you successfully moved to dc using a spoon? DD moves to the toddler room next week and they are expected to feed themselves. They have been working with dd at school, but I honestly have not tried much at home. Last night I decided I had to draw a line and DD had to start TRYING to use a spoon. I sat the bowl in front of her and a spoon. DD immediately understood what I was trying to do and started screaming. She picked up the spoon and threw it on the floor. I got a fresh spoon, rise and repeat. (The dog was really confused what game we were playing). Finally, on spoon 4, DD gave up and decided I wouldn't feed her. She picked up the spoon, looked me in the face, held the spoon over the side of her tray and let go. She proceeded to eat with her hands. I guess neither of us won. Anyone have tips to make this easier on both of us? I keep reminding myself this too will pass...

Hi ladies. I've been mostly a lurker on this board for the past 15months. I think his is my first time posting here. But I really need some input/info/advice.

I've just
been offered a full time RN position. Five nights a week, 11p-7A.
Really, the shift is the worst part about it. Everything else about
this job is awesome, and as a new grad RN I would be stupid to turn it
down. But I'm having horrible anxiety already about a daily schedule.
DH and I have already decided that we will utilize daycare for DD. I
will need more than just napping when she does, especially as I'm lucky
to get a two naps out of her anymore.

I'm curious as to how others who work this shift make it work with their LO's. When do you sleep? When do you see LO or DH?

My
first thought is this: DH will take DD to daycare in the morning. I
come home and sleep 6-8hrs. I will pick DD up around 3-4. Then just
spend that time with her until she goes to bed around 8. I will leave
for work around10/1015.

That sounds like the easiest maybe? But I'm curious as to how others do it.

TIA!!
