At what age did you start exposing your little one to the water? And at what age did you start formal lessons?

I plan to ask my sons pediatrician when we go in August but I'm curious about what others have done. Of course Google has conflicting information as to what age is appropriate to go in the water (some say 2 months old, others say not until 6 months).

We have a large above ground saltwater pool (that's currently 88 degrees!) and it's important to us that our son is comfortable and safe in the water.

It's funny, people don't seem to understand that yes, we love her yes, we planned to have her, we just want one. We just constantly hear about when we have our next one, it's kind of comical as we often hear more about it after we share that she will be our only baby.

Hopefully this can be a more general thread for people to talk about how they balance the needs/schedules of their older kid(s) with the needs of their newborn.

Right now this is the hardest thing for me. DS1 is in a camp this week and while it's nice to have something for him to do during the day, I'm having a hard time timing DS2s feedings and naps around drop off and pick up times. Yesterday I had to interrupt his feedings both times and wake him up from his nap to be there on time and he was not happy about it. Today H was able to take him, but I have to do the rest of the week. Plus this has me wondering how I'm going to do school drop off and pick up in the fall! I must be over thinking it?

Last week I basically went up to my hubby and said, "Since I have had 2 miserable pregnancies, one with twins, a month of bed rest and at least one c section, are you cool with taking one for the team and getting the snip?" He replied that he figured after all I had done pregnancy wise that that would be his contribution. What a good man lol!

I've been adding the formula in ahead of time and just keeping it all cold until I need it. It's never been more than a few hours since I usually use it up within about 6 hours from time I make it up.
So we co-sleep by bedsharing (in a safe sleeper don't worry) and we have him on his tummy cause he seems to cry less that way now I'm faced with a new issue. He's n active sleeper meaning everytime his sleep cycle changes he will make noise and start tossing and turning. He will pick his head up and turn it or rub his face, kick his legs maybe even make some noise but his eyes are closed and it will stop after a few minutes. So a few questions. First should I wait until he fusses for a long time and maybe let out a cry before I feed him? He is fully capable of doing 5+ hours stretches at night since he's a big boy, 12lbs now, and I don't wanna try and feed him if he's not fully hungry which I think I did this morning and it bit me in the ass cause it wasn't a full feed so he probably didn't get much hindmilk. Second he sleeps on his tummy I want to keep him in our bed at night so I can be sure he's breathing, during the day he's in his room with a monitor and I check on him of he's been quiet for a little while. How do you other co-sleeping moms deal with all the extra noise of your baby's fussy sleeping? Thankfully, it doesn't seem to bother DH but I'm getting less sleep

However she was supposed to just stay with us temporarily while she bought a condo. It's now been two months and every condo she's looked at, she's found something wrong with. Every. Single. One. There is probably NOTHING that exists that will fit all her criteria. And she doesn't want to rent an apartment because she doesn't want to waste the money. I'm ready to tell her I will pay for the frickin apartment but of course she will say no and just continue staying with us. I do not want her living here forever and she is really fucking pissing me off.

Sorry ladies I have been absent from here since little one was born, we had quite an adventure. She was born with the cord around her neck, Sunnyside up and got stuck on the way out. Then with family in town I have had no time.

But now at 2 weeks old she is suffering from acid reflux. She eats just fine but then projectile vomits and chokes and stops breathing. The scariest thing I have ever dealt with. Her face is what gets to me... she looks terrified and can't breath. The doctor put her on Zantac that seemed to help for a few days but now we are back to throwing up a few times a day. She is now 100% formula fed due to issues. Other than this she is a happy baby. I posted a picture, she smiles all the time.

Has anyone else gone through this?
Ftm and this morning I will be driving my son to a doctor's appt. I hate driving in the city in general and I feel anxious doing so; however I feel even more anxious today. It's partly because it is rush hour and I'm not too familiar with the area I have to go to (been there once), plus I'm tired from the nightly feedings.

Anyone else get nervous about driving your kiddo or am I just crazy?

My 7 week old LO woke up this morning congested. She's been sneezing a lot and lots of clean mucus coming out. The only thing I can think of that caused this is last night we left the AC running along with a fan because it was really hot in our house.

No no fever thank god, she's still a very happy baby, but could this be a cold? Has this happened to anyone else? Called my doctor and they said run the humidifier and use saline drops. So far it's been helping I guess. She's been sleeping all morning as well. Hopefully rest helps

This Saturday at 6pm is a baseball game that we are supposed to go to with my parents. It's a smaller stadium (not major league). The older kids are super excited about it, but now I'm wondering if it's too much noise for a one month old.

Would you you go with a baby so young? Should I plan anything to help make it easier? I would obviously wear her in a wrap pretty much the whole night.

Better late than never for the announcement/birth story! I was due June 8 but had not made any progress and plans were made to induce me at my doctors appointment on June 13 as I was not dilated at all. Induction was scheduled for June 14 at 6PM. At 5AM on June 14 I started having regular contractions and ended up going to the hospital at 8AM. By 11AM I was 3 cm dilated but then I got stuck at 6 cm and the doctor gave me 3 choices: get an epidural to see if it helps me reduce tension to progress labor, start pitocin or wait and possibly end up with a c-section. He scared me enough to get the epidural which worked to help me progress. They gave me the epidural around 5PM and when they checked me at midnight I was at 9 cm and by 1:29AM I was pushing and at 1:54AM Nyssa was born. I only ended up with 2 stiches (though I would have preferred 0!). Nyssa was born at 8 lbs 4 oz and 21.5 inches long. So in love!

DS is almost 7 weeks now... We are really struggling with a daily schedule. It seems like we are constantly stuck in this pattern where he acts like he's starving, I feed him, he falls asleep in the middle of the feed, so I try to wake him up by burping, changing his diaper, talking, laying him down, etc. I can't get him to stay awake for the life of me. After the feeding, which I have struggled through for like an hour trying to keep him awake to get enough, I put him down to nap. Then he will wake up 20 to 30 minutes later wanting to eat again. I feel like this cycle is going to make me lose my mind. I constantly worry that he's not eating or sleeping enough but I don't know how to fix it. On top of that, around 5 every evening he fusses and wants to eat until bedtime, usually 9 or so, but he keeps pulling off and crying. I know this it's normal fussiness but it's been weeks and it's not going away. He sleeps ok at night usually and has plenty of wet and dirty diapers but I just can't handle this cycle. I can't get anything done and can barely take care of dd, she plays by herself most of the day.

So how do I go about setting up a schedule and stopping this madness?

I'm breastfeeding, and while not normally a shy person, I'm terrified that I'll be out and about and the babe will freak out and have a difficult latching session out in public or a major poop splosion with no public bathroom in sight. I really want to DO things again. Nothing epic. Simple things like walk around the block (2.5 miles of epicness in this heat), but anxiety keeps putting me back in my house. How does everyone else handle the finikiness (sp?) of a newborn? How are you all doing about breaking out of the house? Anyone else with similar anxieties?

However over the past week he has been fighting any type of sleep SO BAD. first it's the cute nodding, eyes fluttering, etc, but then after sometimes an hour he just gets angry. He will scream and scream and scream, I will feed him, burp him, sometimes try gas drops, rock him, walk with him, car rides are out as he doesn't like being buckled in his car seat, but we will literally do any and everything but he just freaks out. I end up just holding him, rubbing his back and rocking him until he will cry himself to sleep. I feel like I have run out of things to try. Anyone else ever go through this and find anything that helps? It is no fun rocking a screaming baby to sleep!
