Anyone else have very short labors?
This will be my third, and my previous two I was only in labor for a little over 3 hours. They were both born two hours after arriving at the hospital. Although I was lucky with my second and it didn't go much faster than the first, I'm afraid this baby might. With my second i was able to recognize labor long before it was painful, so that probably got me at the hospital an hour earlier than I would have otherwise. I have my 12 week appt with my OB on Monday and plan on bringing it up then. Anyone else have this worry as well? Did your doctor do anything different than hope for the best?

Hello lovelies! I am looking for some advice on what to do about insurance.

First pregnancy here. I work on-call at a hospital in southern California so I don't get insurance through my work and I get my insurance through my husband. Also, having on-call status at work means that I get more control over my schedule which will really help with this new baby! I over heard one of my co-workers talking about how she went on medicare/medicaid disability for her last pregnancy. I would ask her but I am just not ready to spill the beans just yet!

So, I just wanted to see if anyone else is on the same boat and what are you going to be doing to supplement your income during your leave from work? Does medicare/medicaid help with that?

So, even though I have insurance through my job, my husband just elected to add me to the plan he has through his job as well (it cost next to nothing to add me). My plan expires at the end of February and we've been told that they MAY be switching plans then - so although I think it is pretty safe to assume the new plan would be comparable, there is no way to know for sure. This way, if I elect to not enroll in coverage through my employer, I'll already be covered through my husband's plan.

I've heard that some people have both "primary" and "secondary" insurance coverage. Wondering if anyone here has experience with that, and how exactly it works. Thanks in advance for any help!

To our delight, we not only got a sneak peak at our baby, but we heard a strong heartbeat (179 BPM). Needless to say, we are over the moon and feeling a lot of relief that we have passed this milestone.

The Dr. Said its either two things, my dates are off and I ovulated later than expected or it is not a viable pregnancy. I'm at lost for words. Has anyone had any experience with this happening to them?
Also I had my HGC levels checked today and I was @ 4,559. In two days I retest to see if my levels are increasing. Any advice would be a great help. Thank you in advance!

I took it every cycle because my 7 DPO level was 1.5 (anovulatory, but an u/s confirmed I ovulated. low level was attributed to my 8 day LP).

As I'm now pregnant, I am still taking my progesterone. My REI said to stop taking it at 8 weeks. My midwife said to stop taking it at 10 weeks. My OB said to stop taking it at 12 weeks.

So I'm curious - when did you stop?
I am due August 1 with my first. My sister in law is due June 30 with her first.

My pregnancy is high-risk. I have a unicornuate uterus which puts me at risk for numerous problems, including preterm labor. My OB told me she's even had numerous patients make it all the way to 37 weeks with my issue, but I could go any time.

My sister in law's pregnancy is healthy and normal. She'll probably go right around her EDD.

When is the best time to have my baby shower? I am hesitant to do it in July because I'll likely delivery in July. I was thinking June 5 or June 12 but my sister in law said those are the two weekends she wants (and she's not the sharing, understanding type of person). Is May too early or should I stick with the June dates that work best for me? Or is late May more ideal with my preterm labor? I want to have a nice big baby bump for my shower but not do it too early because later problems can happen and I am high risk...

Thank you!

Haha, this is super silly, but before I was pregnant, when I would sneeze, I would only sneeze once. Now that I am pregnant, I sneeze twice in a row really fast EVERY time I sneeze. I had never done that in my life. I just think it's so funny. I know it probably has NOTHING to do with being pregnant, but it's fun to think I am sneezing once for me and once for baby.

Anyone else have anything silly or different they have noticed since being pregnant?

I'm going to start by saying that I feel admittedly foolish asking this question in the first place. I know that my generation and my parents' generation have been doing ultrasounds with no proven risk to babies. However, I've been hearing more and more studies done on rats and chickens that suggest there *might* be a *slight* chance of behavioral development and tissue health risks due to repeated ultrasounds. Studies like these are alarming to me for obvious reasons and I hate to dwell on them because pregnant women already have enough to worry about and already so many decisions to make about theirs and the baby's care. But I want to be really cautious. I am dying to see the baby (haven't had an u/s or appt yet- I'm only 7 wks) and I will likely do tests, so it's hard to imagine that I wouldn't have any ultrasounds done, but I'm curious: have any of you ladies opted (or plan to opt) out of ultrasounds? What were some of the factors that either made you weary or comforted you about that decision?

Totally no judgement here, just looking for more info. Thanks!

But boy do I feel bad from 4-bedtime. I guess it's raging hormones. This didn't happen during my pregnancy last year (where we lost the baby at 21 weeks), so I'm hopeful this is a good sign. Fingers crossed!

Hi Ladies,

I have been taking 200 mg(?) of progesterone suppositories for approximately 4 weeks (I am 10 wk 3d). I have noticed a few things that seemed strange, and wondered if anyone was experiencing these symptoms (or lack there of):

About 1-2 days per week, I feel menstrual-like cramps (not unbearable, but definitely noticeable). It tends to migrate to my lower back. I know this is common in pregnancy, but I had assumed it would improve when taking the suppositories. Anyone else?

I have had tender breasts since the moment I found out I was pregnant. The tenderness increased when I started the suppositories. Two days ago, the tenderness disappeared. My overall symptoms tend to wax/wane, but this was surprising since this has been the constant. Anyone else?

Of course I am fearing the worst...I am just not sure how I would know if something was truly wrong. I keep reading (Google...big mistake) that when taking progesterone, your body will prevent you from bleeding. Silly question, but would you call your doctor for the two items mentioned above?

Thanks so much in advance

Hello all! I want to start this thread for moms and future moms of babies with special needs. When I was expecting the first go around I really wish I had a place to go and ask questions, get support, and sometimes just vent.

I have a little boy (2 years old this Feb) and we found out that he had pretty significant issues when I was 12 weeks pregnant. It was a very hard but rewarding journey.

Feel free to use this thread however best suits you. It's Ok to be upset and no questions are off limits. Hopefully we can find support for anyone going through this.

By the way: my child is the best thing that has ever happened to my family.

Love to you all!
