So when I picked DS up at daycare, his teacher said he was acting "aggressive" today. This is the first time they've ever said anything other than "he was perfect!", so it really caught me off guard.

When I questioned them what that meant, she said he was "crawling over other kids" and "put his mouth on the other kids, but not biting". While I was holding him and she was talking to me, he put his mouth on my arm. He does that all the time! He tries to blow raspberries, and half the time he forgets to blow and just slobbers. And we've also been trying to teach him to "kiss". (He blows kisses, and we've been trying to teach him to kiss us on the cheek.) And, yeah, he's a toddler. Toddlers, especially boys, are all about climbing!

If they don't want him to do it, sure, correct him. But to say he's "aggressive"? Um, no. And I'm not the "my kid can do no wrong" type of parent. But I really think she is over-reacting.

A little back history: This is a new teacher, she's been there 3-4 weeks. I get it if she's trying to do everything by-the-book, but she needs to use some common sense! Every other day, it's SOMETHING. We've had 4 incident write-ups with her too, where if a kid is sick or injured they have you sign a sheet, and they are like "um, he bumped his head, it's fine now but it was a little red when it happened", "he got a teeny-tiny scratch on his arm on the playground". Yeah, he's a toddler! She's new to our daycare, but the "get to know the new teacher" letter they sent home said she had 7 years experience working with infant-preschool age kids.

Sorry, just venting. My "aggressive" kid just got done crawling back and forth over my legs and slobbering on me.

So H came down with croup last week and it has literally worn him out smooth. His doctor gave him 3 days of steroids to help with the inflammation of his airway and then said to do breathing treatments every 4 hours for the cough, she also said that it could take several weeks for the cough to fully go away. He isn't running a fever anymore but his appetite is still really low and he's still very clingy/whiny. He has been waking up off and on every single night coughing his head off. You can still hear that he has a ton of congestion in his chest and I'm having a really hard time trying to get it all broke up to where he can cough it all up. I'm so worried that it is going to turn into an infection. He also has a runny nose and his snot is a yellowish color.

Is this normal for croup? He's had everything under the sun but this and I just feel like he isn't getting any better. When he gets bad nose/chest congestion like this, the ONLY thing that ever helps is antibiotics. His ENT wants to remove his tonsils and adenoids but we are trying to wait til he is a little older. I'm concerned because we leave for Disney World next Saturday and I don't want him to be sick the whole trip!

Would you call the doctor and see if there is anything else we can do or would you just try to wait it out and let it run it's course?

DS had an appointment today. It was to finish up his series of 12 mo shots. I split it into 2 visits because I didn't want him having a lot at once. Anyhow, we scheduled today's visit at a time when a child development specialist was in the office and she met with us because DS missed a few of the 'milestones' we were asked about at his 12 mo check up, the biggest being pulling up to stand and cruising. The specialist thinks that he is very bright but mildly delayed in his gross motor skills. She noted how he sits - here's the best way I can describe it, when he sits most of the time his spine looks like a C with the biggest portion of the curve being in his lower back and his thighs are flat on the ground. She also noted how he kind of stands on the sides of his feet. She thinks that he has decreased muscle tone and talked about how strengthening his upper body is even connected to chewing and speaking. She suggests seeing a specialists, if even for 1 visit to get some ideas to work on at home because again, she says this is all slight/mild. I asked, "what if we do nothing?" and she said we'd probably only notice in areas such as clumsiness or when not playing sports as well. She did think that doing some PT will help him be a "safer" walker when we get to that point.

What do you guys think? Would you do it?

Do your kids still do this?? DS has been doing it off and on after every meal for the past 4 days. He had reflux as a newborn but has been off medicine for it for at least 6 months. He also spits up when he gets out of the car if we drive more than 10-15 mins.

Not sure if I should be concerned or not. It doesn't seem to bother him most of the time. Sometimes he just seems confused as to what is happening when he spits up.

Hi Lovely ladies,

It has been about 6 weeks since I have been on the bump......we are officially relocated to New Hampshire and getting settled as much as we can in our temp housing, while we build a home. I am settling in with my new job and its going well, however DD is having a terrible time with daycare drop off in the morning. She was at her previous daycare from 12 weeks old until this past August. I kept her home for 4 weeks while I transitioned to my new job and we relocated. I used to drop her off and she would wave and go play, now she screams and cries and it is breaking my heart. We are on week 4 of this. I don't know what to do. They say she cries for 15-20 min and is fine then. Has anyone switched daycares and had this happen?

One more question, has anyone washed their Britax Marathon car seat cover? DD puked on it and it smells terrible.

Also, where did my siggy pics go?

I am debating whether or not to tell my family about our IF and that I have a FET scheduled for late November / early December. They don't know that L was conceived via IVF. My mother is generally an empathic, caring person but not very knowledgeable medically. My father is really not a nice person and I don't want to tell him the reason for IVF. I don't trust my mother will keep the information to herself.

I don't think there should be anything shameful or secretive about IF. DH's father and SMIL have known and are very supportive. I don't know if they would stop the endless questions about when I am going to have a second child and reminders that I am not getting any younger (as if I didn't already know) or I would just be exposing myself to my father's very judgmental views on artificial conception and God's will.

I forgot to say that LO and I are going to Chicago for a visit this coming weekend and my upcoming FET weighs heavily on my mind

So last night was our first night of no BFing. I thought I was ready to be done but I feel so guilty. I said goodnight to DS as usual but my DH put him to bed instead. He cried for almost an hour. I don't know if it was because he didn't nurse or if it was something else (I also think he is getting sick). If I am not home and DH puts him to bed he doesn't have a problem. Either way, I feel guilty. I feel like he is going to hate me. I feel like a horrible mom. I know I am being silly but I can't help feeling this way. This is way harder then I thought it was going to be.
Anyone else have guilt when stopping BFing? Did you start a new bedtime bonding routine when you stopped?

We are planning out our kitchen remodel (knocking out a wall, putting in a two-level center island...) And I'm having trouble deciding on the cooktop. We have a new SS oven & DW, so we are going to get a SS new fridge, SS small microwave and ? cooktop. The cooktop and oven will be in the center island. I haven't picked out countertops yet, but I'm envisioning light colored counters(warm color) - either granite or corian. Cabinets will be cherry with a light reddish stain.

My question: Black ceramic flat cooktop OR stainless steel gas cooktop?? I love cooking with gas, but cleaning is another story. A ceramic flat cooktop is so easy to clean. Would a black cooktop look weird in the middle of a light colored granite slab? The oven and DW have some black on them.

Another question: Would you center the cooktop in the middle of the island or have it offcenter? The island will be 6-7 feet long.

I see lots of Bumpies I have not had the pleasure of getting to know. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things. Reconnecting with bumpies I know and meeting the bumpies that are new to me.

DS is 13 months and our 1st diaper bag is showing its wear and hasn't worked super well for us. We got the skip hop via messenger bag and it seems it has not really been big enough all along particulary for all day outings and going to the sitter (we often are carrying an additonal bag). I like to keep about 5 diapers, a thing of wipes, an extra change of clothes, a blanket, a bib, a few small toys, a pacifier, sunglasses, hat, baby products (lotions, creams, soaps etc), the changing pad, nursing cover, and his food which right now for a day would be 1 bottle, 1 cup, and 4 containers of some sort of food.

So I think we need something bigger, but I'm not sure I want it to be huge (like for those times we just are out of the house for an hour, but maybe we'll just start using a smaller mini bag or something). I've looked at a few bag, but I'm just not sure which to choose so I thought I'd get some experienced mom's advice on what has worked well. We like that the skip hop attaches to the stroller and I recently saw some fischer price ones that have the wipes easily accessible which seemed like a good idea too.

So what bag are you using? Do you like it or hate it? What do you like about it?

DS2 had his allergy apt this past Thursday. She sent him for blood work, and said that she would call on Monday with the results. I am sitting by the phone waiting. I am just hoping and praying that it will be an easy fix, we can change our diets, and be done with it all. When she looked into his ears on Thursday, she said they both looked red, and might turn into an ear infection. Of course, lo didn't sleep all night, and had a fever this morning, so off to the ped we went. Home with some Amoxicillin, hoping that we can all get some sleep and that he feels better.

Arrrggg ((impatiently waiting for the phone to ring))

I am just about weaned from exclusively pumping. I plan to have another baby in a couple years, so I was planning on holding on to it. Now I'm having second thoughts. I know insurance companies are required to cover pumps, but does anyone know if that's for each baby? I don't want a new pump just for the sake of getting a new pump, but after 14 months of use, thousands of pump sessions, I don't know how well the motor would hold up for another baby, and I think with the insurance you have to get your pump within a certain amount of time after having your child? If I hold onto this one and don't get a new one right away with the next child, and then this one dies, I'd prefer not to have to shell out the extra money myself. I also hope I wouldn't have to exclusively pump next time around. So what do you think? Keep? Get rid of? What did you do with yours?
