Cod Liver Oil and Ear Infections?

Have any of you ever given cod liver oil to your LO for an ear infection?  My friend swears this is the reason she was able to avoid getting tubes for her son when he was little.  She said he had 13 ear infections in 14 months.  2 weeks from surgery she did research and found cod liver oil could help.  She gave it to him 1 tsp in the morning and at night and said he hasn't had an infection since.  Not sure what to think of this.  Let me know if you've tried it.

    I've never heard of it, so I dont know anything about it. But I dont really understand how that would drain fluid out of a child's ears? The issue is that the ears are not draining the fluid and then it gets infected. Maybe it helps prevent infection? But if there is fluid in the ear it can cause hearing loss, so I would talk to the pedi or a specialist before deciding something like that. But again, take my advice with a grain of salt because I dont really know anything about cod liver oil.

    FWIW- Brady has tubes and they have made a HUGE difference. He was miserable because he had pretty much constant ear infections and even when they werent infected they were always filled with fluid which impaired his hearing and also hurt. He has been so much happier since he got them. We have an appointment with the ENT on Friday for Nolan.
