I have the same problem. And my DS has a nasty looking chapped spot on his chin below his lip (I think from drooling so much). It looks painful. I keep putting lotion on it, but I'm interested to hear other suggestions. I've been using baby lotion.
Yes, there are products for baby's face. Johnson & Johnson has the Soothing Naturals Baby Balm Stick (we love this - it's only $4), Mustela Hydra Baby Face, Aveeno Soothing Lotion, and Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment (have used this).
Ditto Aquafor...don't use a lotion! It will most likely irritate more. SIL used some baby lotion and my nephew screamed because it burned. Try something more ointment-based (that's what pedi recommended for us).

Gotta ditto the aquaphor again, we keep dd covered in ti. It will also help where they drool because it provides a protective barrier against water, water just beads up on it. My pedi also recommends just plain on vaseline.
my son had the same problem since he was 2 months old. I use mustela for faces -- it is 10 dollars a tube kinda expensive but I still have 3/4 of a tube left and he is 8 months old. You only need a little but it totally works -- and it smells baby -- licious !
We just had an appt today and we're having the same problem. The pedi said vasoline was safe to use. I WOULD NOT USE BABY OIL! Baby oil can be dangerous and potentially fatal if the baby aspirates it.
Re: dry skin on dc's face...
Ditto.
