Well my apt today proved to be kind of bittersweet... (For those of you who know I have a personal goal of having this, my last, make it to term with my 4 other children being born at 35 weeks) ANYWAYs my labs came back today that my platletts are still down, and now my uric acid level has risen to 7. So I am doing a 24 hour urine collection and we will go from there. Earliest delivery will be next Tuesday (unless I go into labor before then, I'll be 35 weeks sat) and I won't be going past Jan 21st. I feel defeated by my body. It's frustrating to feel like I get to a certain point and it all just goes to heck.....
Anyone else dealing with similar symptoms? Anyone have experience with things actually improving? I know someone recently was diagnosed w pre-e for it to clear itself up.....
Prayers that I am at least able to make it to the 21st would be appreciated that puts me a lil over 37 weeks, at least term.
I've been on modified, now strict, bed rest and meds to hopefully get this LO to term. With both of my pregnancies (that made it to 3rd tri) my body goes into labor around 30 wks... I need interventions to keep LO in longer.
I hope you can make it to the 21st!!!
Did all of your babies have NICU time? Did you get the steroid shots?

I had steroid shots w all of them, my body usually goes into labor at 29 weeks... I have been on procardia since then... And none of my kids had nicu time... They all came home w me when I was discharged, and I realize reading other birth stories that I'm very blessed for that to have been the case.
Edit to add they all weighted in at 6-6 1/2 lbs so I really think there decent size and the shots helped them be ok.
I know this is hard but the key is that you want to go home with a healthy LO and not when the LO arrived. So, I think if you concentrate on that, when yo went into labor or delivered is just moot. ((hugs))
T&ps! Its so disappointing to not make it as far as you hope to. I do hope you are able to make it to the 21st at least, and that regardless, little one has a short NICU stay if they do come early.

Your right, very valid point. My doctor basically just said for some reason some womens bodies just handle pregnancy different. He has patients that always deliver "late" and some that always go early. But ultimately it's about the baby now and what's best... Plus w all my cervical issues early on I'm really thankful I made it this far.
Don't feel defeated! Your body created and delivered 4 beautiful babies-- who cares how long they stayed in the womb? I will pray with you for 37 weeks with this LO. Keep us updated!
No personal experience but will definitely add your 37 week goal to my prayer list. Hang in there, you're doing the very best you can, and have grown a healthy LO - You've accomplished a lot, keep being strong!
I hope you are able to make it to 37 weeks, but don't be so hard on yourself As everyone has said, you have already made it very far!
I'll be induced at 37 weeks myself because of liver issues (sooner if the baby seems to be in distress). I'm feeling happy I'll be able to make it to "full term" anyway!
Your body has grown another healthy human that is almost ready to come out and join your family! That's something to celebrate it for : ) I know you're frustrated but let's focus on the positive - you are so close to having another happy baby who (hopefully) will be able to come right home with you like your other babies have been able to! You've done so great throughout this whole pregnancy and you're almost to the finish line now - chin up mama!
See this is why I love all you guys! Here I am frustrated when I really should be happy that I have been so fortunate. I'm a weirdo, I have serious big baby envy lol as ridiculous as it sounds I want a big 8lb term baby! Don't get me wrong my kids were all beautiful and thankfully healthy but there is just something about a big plump baby..... The Rolling Stones sang it best " You can't always get what you want"

Just curious? Was your liver issue brought on by pregnancy? Or was it something you had prior to getting pregnant?
I am a FTM but I'm really struggling with not being angry at my body right now. I have been admitted for PTL twice now, once at 29+3 and once at 31+3. My cervix is slowly effacing and dilating, and my contractions continue. I'm allowed to be at home on strict bed rest, but it feels like I'm playing a waiting game. And it feels like I'm certain to loose that game, and my daughter will be the one who pays the price! I hate it. I want to duct tape my cervix shut.
I've set a lot of REALLY small goals for us, basically week by week goals. I like to imagine her weight going up every day she's in me. I am so thankful to be able to rest at home in the meantime, but scared for the day my water breaks or my contractions become unbearable. I don't have a lot of advice, but I do want to say hearing about all your healthy 35 week babies makes me feel really inspired and hopeful! You have every right to wish you could carry your LO longer. I did read some interesting studies on how the length of a woman's menstrual cycle can be an indicator of the length of her pregnancies - some bodies just do things on a shorter schedule, other's longer. Maybe this is your body's normal?
((hugs))

I'm glad you have been able to keep that LO in ( I loled at your duct tape remark!) and trust me feel your frustration! I'm glad that hearing my Los thrived helps you feel somewhat more confident that your baby could do the same. Where did you read about the cycle correlation? I would be really interested in reading it. I know they really don't know what it is that causes women to go into labor. My doctor actually said that a variety of things can/do and it differs from one patient to another.
@mamahollywood27 I'm afraid I have no idea where I read that, it was definitely just a proposed theory. I wish I still had my university library login, so I could dig around in studies for you!
Oh no worries, just thought if it was something I could get from library or online I would check it out
((((Hugs)))) I agree with what pps have said, all wonderful points to focus on. Especially that all 4 of your babies so far were at such good weights with no NICU time! It does sound like your body maybe just does it a bit faster than others. I know I've also read and heard many times that 37-41 weeks is just an estimate, as you know too I'm sure. I had a healthy (small but healthy) baby at 33 weeks and another healthy (almost 8 pounds) baby at 37 weeks. I sort of feel my body likes to go early too, but we'll see what this one does. Be proud of how far you've come, you're amazing, Mama! But I do know what it's like to want to go as long as you can, and you will be in my thoughts for sure. Do they have you on progesterone injections? Just curious. I took them with my last one and this time.
@TLex that study about menstrual cycle also interests me. Personally, I have had shorter pregnancies and I have 4 day cycles.
So sorry for the stress and disappointment. Many T&Ps for a healthy baby and a smooth delivery. ((hugs))

Sorry if I got off track I just wanted to reassure OP (and others) that some of us seem to go early and all is well!
And... the cycle length thing... I feel dumb now. Haham. FWIW I'm about 29-30 days. I just (tmi) have a heavy and fast 4-day period.
Edited to fix quote tree mess.
Don't be sorry! I'm excited to think if I keep this guy in til 37 he could possibly be a bigger like your 37 weeker, they say they gain what? 1/2-1lb a week right about now right?

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I'm hoping that all goes well, and especially that some positives are able to shine through in all of this. With your previous pregnancies, despite them coming early, did everything ultimately end up working our, and were those babies, overall, healthy? Bc I would hope that it would happen again that you, and this new LO, will be alright. Maybe to start viewing it as, "This is just how my body produces babies" instead of "my body is failing me" could help you to feel better? Clearly, you're not a failure if you've brought other children into this world! Thoughts & prayers to you and to LO!! I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best!
I'm sorry you're down, but I wanted to say how impressed I am by everything you've gone through. You're not failing; you've fought to keep that baby in there for so long!

Your right, I had a long conversation with my dad tonight and I realized I should be thankful and get off the bummer wagon... This is just what my body apparently does, and hopefully this LO is like my other kids and thrives, and if any intervention is needed it is minimal.

I appreciate that. Not long ago they were hoping to get me to 28-30 weeks and here I am 35!

I don't have any personal experience with this but I hope LO can stay in until at least 37 weeks for you! Sending you lots of thoughts and prayers!
