dive in! To check out the archive of our previous check-ins, please see

Re: ~*~*MSPI Moms Weekly Check-In*~*~
1. How long have you been on the MSPI diet? 3 weeks dairy free. If after 1 month it doesn't get better I will also be cutting out soy.
2. How are you doing? How is your LO doing? I'm doing alright, although I have found eating out to be frustrating. Most places seem to know if their foods have any obvious milk products, but not milk proteins. LO is doing okay as well. It seems like his gas is getting better, but we are still having the green/mucousy poops, although twice this week they have been yellow. Hopefully the dairy is almost out of his system.
3. What have you struggled with the most when it comes to MSPI? The eating out and not having some of my favorite foods.
4. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share? What are some of your favorite dairy free/soy free snacks?
1. How long have you been on the MSPI diet? 16 mo
2. How are you doing? How is your LO doing? We're doing fine on the MSPI front. DH gave DS some Rice Krispies that have vit E in them, and he had a smelly, mucousy poop. I think he's still intolerant of soy.
3. What have you struggled with the most when it comes to MSPI? Eating out and finding time to make most of our food from scratch. It has been a total lifestyle shift. One of our favorite activities was to try new restaurants and foods. We have hardly eaten out in the last year, and when we do I'm always stressed about it. And as a PT working mom it has been difficult to get organized and find time to cook. But, at this point it is much easier, and I like that our diet has become healthier and cheaper.
4. Any other burning questions you'd like answered or experiences to share?I'll share our allergist appt news: We really liked the dr we saw. She seemed really competent and was very personable. She diagnosed DS with dermatographia ("skin writing"), which is a type of frequent hives likely brought on by his many viral infections (aka colds). (She diagnosed it by running a tongue depressor across his arm and it formed a raised red welt - we've always known he had "sensitive skin" but had never heard of dermatographia so it just wasn't on our radar.) She said that's probably why the rash on his face and diaper rash flares up so easily. After hearing me talk about our experiences with his reactions to foods, she said he could also have a food allergy, and ordered a bunch of blood panels to try to pinpoint what it might be (she said a scratch test wouldn't be very informative since he'd probably flare up wherever they scratched him!). We haven't gone in to get his blood drawn yet but we'll probably go later this week or next week. Looking forward to getting some more answers!
