Naomi - would you pronounce NYE-omi?

A finalist girl's name for baby, is Naomi. My husband and I both pronounce the name as NAY-omi. However, I've noticed that oftentimes, people pronounce it NYE-omi. I'm not at all a fan of that pronunciation.

Do you think it's regional? How do you pronounce Naomi?

1.) NAY-omi

2.) NYE-omi / NI-omi

I think it's definitely regional. I'm from the west coast, I'd say NAY-omi.

Nay. I have never heard it pronounced differently. I LOVE this name. DH made an awful face when I suggested it though.

I pronounce it Nay. This is my sister's name and growing up we lived in a couple states in the Midwest and a couple states on the east coast. Nearly everyone says Nay, but some old people pronounce it Nye. Every once in a while people with country accents pronounce it Nye, too.
