I went to the store today on my lunch because they have an amazing salad and fruit bar for cheap. I usually pack a lunch to save money but was craving em both, so I decided to indulge and treat myself today..
Well on the way to the salad/fruit bar sour gummy worms just happened to catch my eye (: So I grabbed em.
As I am making my salad this older gentleman 40's maybe 50's came up behind me and said, "It's nice to see a pregnant woman eating healthy." I thanked him, and then he looked the gummy worms and said, "I take that back, it's no wonder the American people are obese it's people like you, you people just buy junk."
I just looked at him and said, I'm sorry you feel that way and walked away. But I could have just cried, like really how mean can you be. Pre-Pregnancy I was lucky to be 115 pounds because of medical issues, and just started to truly grow the bump. The weight I have gained is pure belly and no where else which is nice but seriously I'm pregnant not obese.
Anyone else have rude comment made to them?!
Re: Rude people.
This!!
How rude.
I have been surprised by the comments I have heard from middle-aged and older men compared to other groups. I haven't received many comments like this, I think less than a handful over the span of the pregnancy, but those I have received have shocked me because of who they're come from! Don't take it personally. For whatever reason, he deemed himself qualified to make a judgement on someone else's decision, and you just happened to be in the line of fire. Keep doing what you're doing and keeping that baby and yourself happy and healthy!
I haven't had any rude comments yet.
You handled that situation a lot better than most could have. I don't understand how people just come out with crap like that, but he deserves a nice throat punch. Don't take it to heart, some people just have no sense.
During my first trimester sour candies really helped with the morning sickness. One day I was volunteering at my son's school library and was eating some sour patch kids. Another lady came up to me, yanked the candy out of my hand, and told me "you shouldn't eat that sh!t--it's bad for your baby,".
I grabbed it back, laughed it off and told her to mind her to mind her business. I would have said much more if I had not been at the school.
Ha. my Mom would've lectured me too.
how does waiting until you're thin make the comments any more okay? seriously. they're still being asshats
wow. thanks for being rude on a thread aimed at how rude people can be!
Do you always make asshat comments like this? I'm going to assume you don't think before you speak. Here's a big ole F-you from the obsese pregnant lady.
I love you too, guuurrrllll. A girl can only be pushed so far before she snaps.
"Yep, that's us Americans. Now, are you from a country where everyone is a giant d!ck?"
I'm lurking because I'm not pregnant (that I know of - fingers crossed as tomorrow is Pee-On-A-Stick day!)....but I am fat (275ish)
I hate situations like that because I want to be a queen B back, but want to have class and not stoop to the level of a derfwad like that. I would have loved to have said in a sunny happy voice "Its so nice to finally meet the one person who has never indulged in any kind of treat. I've heard about you on the news before, but never thought I'd meet you in person!" and walked away.
