Breastfeeding

Low production

First time on this board kinda been lurking. I have month old twins and trying to breastfeed and pump as much as I can but am coming up seriously short. When I try to pump I get Mabel an ounce if I am lucky and when I try and feed they never seem satisfied normally go through 2 ounces of formula after. Any advice on upping my production I want to try and cut back on formula now that they are at safe weights but don't want them to be hungry. I am willing to try almost anything.

Re: Low production

  • Lots of options - eating oatmeal, herbal things like mothers milk tea, fenugreek, blessed thistle, prescription things like Domperidone and Reglan.  I'd start with some Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle and maybe some oatmeal and see how things go from there.
  • Check the motherlove tincture line https://www.motherlove.com/category/breastfeeding.html. I used the more milk plus with DD#2 when I returned to work and It work for me.  I will use it again when I return to work this time with DS.

When my supply drops I eat avocado it works wonders for me...I wake up super engorged in the middle of the night to pump.

Lentils, Green Papaya, Mother's milk tea, Oatmeal, Orange Juice, Alfalfa.

    And rest

    HTH!

  • Herbs can help a lot as long as you use them daily. I use Breastea from https://www.breastea.com and it's worked great for me. Keep breastfeeding them as often as you can, too. Hang in there mom!
