So after much consideration and DH hitting LO with an elbow while they both slept. We've decided to stop bed sharing. I love having my snuggly baby sleep on my tummy and waking up to her smiling face inches away or kissing her head while she sleeps, but she is 8 weeks and I think it's time. We have just started swaddling and it goes well most nights. My question is should I try to get her in the basinette which is right beside me and low enough that I can keep my arm next to her. She is almost long enough that she won't fit in the basinette for much longer though. Or we could try to get her into her crib, which we plan on using eventually, however this seems like a huge transition and I still think she is quite little to be in the other room in that giant crib and obviously she is waaaaay to young for sleep training so I think the crib may be a very hard transition. Any thoughts?
The bassinet seems like a more gradual transition and like it might be better for both of you, but I'd probably bite the bullet and go to the crib so I only had to make the transition once!
I think it's a personal choice. We were bedsharing and C transitioned right to her crib in the nursery between 7 and 8 weeks.
As far as waking up and seeing her face, it is even sweeter walking into her room in the morning and having her look up at me with a big smile. It melts my heart.
Good luck with whichever you choose!

Could you do a pack n play in your room? That way she won't outgrow it anytime soon, and it can still be next to your bed. We've been doing this since the beginning.
We were only bed sharing in the morning for an hour or so when LO wouldn't go back to sleep otherwise and DH and I were too tired to get up. We had her in a bassinette and just transitioned her to a pack n play (still in our room) last night. We swaddle every night and she transitioned fine! I know people have differing opinions on using a pack n play as a crib, but her nursery is too far away from our room for the crib to be an option yet.
We try to use the crib for naps during the day to get her used to it. (I don't know if it's working or not, but we figured it can't hurt!)
We bed shared for the first month, and then got him into the pnp one night around 4 weeks. For the last week, he's been in his crib. He will be 8 weeks Tuesday. It was an accidental transition, I needed to be up late in our room packing stuff, And since it worked so well that night I was afraid to go backwards. I will say the crib has been much harder on me. LO is fine. MH works 3rd, so I've been sleeping in the recliner for fear that the bed would put me into too much of a deep sleep. But honestly, it's also kinda nice. Everything is right there. There's no fumbling with pillows to get them positioned just right so he can eat. It's just SO much smoother overall. Also, since we just have an audio monitor, it's really helped for me to learn the difference between his grunts and fussing. Although a video monitor is on my birthday wish list. Maybe then I will go back to the bed.

Bed sharing is still working good for us but when it is time to move her to her own bed I am goin to use the pnp beside me, that way I can quickly touch her and that might be all she needs to go back to sleep.

Eta...I don't let her sleep on me at night. She's napping on my lap right now.

No crib is in her nursery. Ya I think the basinette will be so much easier on both if us and also if she end up hating it at least it's not permanent.

Good luck with either scenario!!
