Seat protector

I have the Graco Snugride 35 and two cars with leather seats.  Is it necessary to get the seat protectors for the car to put under the car seat bases? Thanks!

Re: Seat protector

  • It is not necessary and is actually considered unsafe because it creates a barrier between the seat and the car seat.  It can prevent a snug install.

  • Agree with PP. You're not supposed to use seat protectors.

  • I don't have leather seats but everyone who does tells me the leather returns to its original shape after the seats are removed. Like PPs said, they are not safe for install.

If you overly concerned, most techs say a thin receiving blanket or thin towel is okay but nothing more.

  • Hmm I hadn't heard about them being unsafe.  Glad I asked, thanks!

  • Car seats do leave marks on both cloth & leather in my experience. If you'd like to avoid that and look into the seat protectors I would go to you nearest CHP office and schedule a car seat check. They may be able to still get a safe and snug fit of the car seat with the protector. And if it's not, they'll let you know!
