For those of you that make your own laundry detergent, do you use it on your CDs as well? And if you don't mind, what's your recipe? I'd love to start making my own for both laundry and CDs
I can't help--I had wanted to do the same, but we use Charlies, which I figured out was basically cheaper than making the equiv. amount ourselves. I'd be nervous about homemade on CDs (I wouldn't trust myself) but I'm sure some do, and kudos to those who do!
I use the recipe below in bulk. There is also a recipe with soap flakes added (not for CD's) but I've found that the CD recipe works great on everything. I use one Tbs for CDs and 2 Tbs for clothes. And for DH's nasty work clothes I add some extra washing soda. I think I might try adding soap flakes if I could find them without having to grate up bars of soap myself....
I use the same recipe for CDs that everyone is referencing: Borax, washing soda, oxiclean. But for my regular laundry, I make a liquid detergent that dissolves a shredded bar of soad (I use Fels Naptha) in LOTS of water with some of that CD powder detergent mixed in--That lasts me forever and really cleans the clothes. I also prefer using liquid so it works for me. I like using the following Youtube videos to help with the powder/ CD detergent and then the liquid (regular clothes) detergent.
I love making my own stuff and would highly recommend it. It works better than most store bought options and is SOOOOO much cheaper!
I am having trouble updating tickers--But I am due on April 2015. I have 2 older step children: 9 and 14 yrs and I also recently had 2 younger children: 2 years and 1 year... so this means I will be having 3 under 3--and trying to fit our family of 7 into our minivan--eek!
