I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
Re: FTM, Natural Hospital Birth Story (Really Long)
Congrats!! What a wonderful story and ending!
As a MN girl Im curious now where you ended up delivering!

Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital, believe it or not! They just built a brand new, multi-million dollar birthing wing to the hospital and they really did a great job with it. It's also a family doctor run practice, not an OB run practice. Although all of the doctors can also do c-sections so you're covered there.
I was originally thinking I'd be driving up from Silver Bay which was an hour and a half away up by Lake Superior, but since I went early I was still at work near Moose Lake when I went into labor so I only had a 35 minute drive which I am SO grateful for!
Anyway, I also looked into St. Mary's Essentia and St. Lukes in Duluth. CMH was a lot newer (obviously), nicer, and their nurses seemed way more NB friendly. I know I would have gotten a natural birth no matter where I ended up because there was literally no time for any other option, but there I felt really supported about my decision as well as all of the baby care desires we had (like delayed cord clamping, not doing eye drops, doing all exams in room, waiting on the bath, etc.).

Me too!
I'm curious how your next labor will go, 5 hours is pretty dang fast!
Don't be terrified! Seriously, it had it's crazy intense parts but I really did enjoy labor. I was sitting there with my baby on my chest thinking "I could do this again!". Not, like, tomorrow, of course! But I could definitely birth again no problem. And I actually really liked the pushing part and could see myself getting pregnant just to do that again.
The big thing is to try to block out negative thoughts. My hypnosis courses really helped with that but you don't need to start a hypnosis class to get that. Just start thinking positive thoughts and then visualize your labor and delivery and just always visualize it going great.

What a great story! Congratulations mama!
It's funny because I had a similar FTM birth. It wasn't as fast but almost! I totally agree with you that even though it was completely different than what I expected it was still great.
