So I think I am behind on this... but oh well. If you ladies wouldn't mind sharing what you are shelling out and what it all includes that would be great. It seems like there is such a wide range of pricing for stuff like this. Obviously pricing differs geographically but it would be nice to have something to compare my research to. If any of you are from Long Island I will also gladly take recommendations!
Thanks!!!!
Re: professional photography
The gal that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do my maternity pics offers these packages & pricing:
Birth Coverage! Just $240 plus tax
*this session purchased alone is perfect for those who aren't 100% comfortable having the actual birth captured but also an amazing addition to the Gift of Life Package so you also have those images after everyone has rested and cleaned up after labor to add to those of that amazing moment in your life!
Also I just fully read the PP - what is birth coverage?! I've never heard of nor seen any pictures from a professional photog in the delivery rooms taking shots while you're in labor?????
She actually comes in and photographs you while you're in labor. She is very taste full and there is no "money shots".
Go look her up on FB and then you can look at her website from there to see what her birth photos are like. Just to give you an idea.
Her name on FB is Shutterhappy
I was told to wait until I was 32-35 weeks but I just had mine this past weekend and imo, I preferred it sooner than later. I'm only going to get bigger and swell up more and the last thing I want is pictures of myself not feeling my best. I'm glad we did ours this past weekend.
HFrizzle, those prices seem very reasonable!
"my" photographer (did my wedding, epix, boudoir, ttd, maternity, and newborn for dd, family pictures, and boudior #2...as well as several of my friends's sessions)....
she charges $500 for "everything", all digitals, etc. or you can go with $200 session, then buy individual digitals for $20/ea.
when she did my newborn, she didn't charge me, said it was a gift as a friend. so we got one set for free.
They are and she does an amazon job. Love her!!
Some photogs offer a mini maternity session for 100 extra, but a separate mat session is like 500 as well...
I'm lucky. My cousin is a photographer and only charges me for the cost of prints. (I always pay more) and she gives me access to all the pictures I want.
But I think she charges a few hundred for sessions and gives the edited photos on a CD or prints.
Her site is photosbyferg.com . I'm sure she has pricing on there.
My maternity photographer is a friend in my mommy group who is in school for photography and does it for friends for the practice. She charges $30. I cannot tell you how blessed I feel for that!
With DD1 we hired a professional photographer and paid $300 for 1hr at a park and a CD with 20-30 edited images and all the rights to them. Her prices have since gone up. Said photographer was supposed to be DD1's NB photographer but she backed out on me the minute I told her DD was born. I was very upset but found an even better photographer for $250 that included 3 hours of shooting in her in-home studio w/ an assistant and ALL images on a CD with 20-30 edited and I own all the rights.
This baby's NB photographer is another close friend who has her professional licence and credentials. I want to say it's a 2hr shoot at her house with 20-30 images edited on a CD for $350-$450. We haven't worked out all the details yet, but we know we will be going with her regardless.
OMG, DH is going to kill me - but I paid the deposit on newborn photographer already - the total package is $700. I researched various newborn photographers and Los Angeles just seems to have a higher price point than most other areas. Some photographers charged upwards of $800!
The cheaper ones were either NMS or required additional print purchases that brings the price up again. I knew I wanted someone that would release all the digital images to me so I can make prints, cards, calendars, etc. with them on my own.
$700 includes 3 hours of shooting in our home. She will assist with styling and bring props if I want her too. Most importantly, I get 50-75 edited, high resolution, digital files on a flash drive.
I probably am paying too much, but I love her work and have been saving parts of my paychecks for baby stuff along the way - so, I'm doing it!
